thats pretty crazy, it's pretty amazing how it's been able to evolve relying on apples and cedar to reproduce. Natural selection is crazy sometimes.

Haha on that note, The Sixth Extinction by Elizabeth Kolbert is pretty good. It's basically just a bunch of scientific data mixed in with her anecdotal opinions, etc outlining how in a geologic blink of an eye we have actually set in motion an extiction completely because of overpopulation and over-exploitation of earth. Shit is fucked. but we can't keep raising our earths carrying capacity for us, it'll eventually be impossible to sustain everyone and then "natural selection" will effect us again.

Hey, Azur!
I have seen you around a lot, and just thought i would introduce myself. Im new here, of course, and a noob, and am just now finishing up my first flush or my first ever grow. i did brf cakes, and fruited in SGFC. Had a monster 8in mushie grow from one of my cakes. cloned it, and took a print:

It is my pride and joy, for now =]
This morning, i also harvested another cake, which just opened it's caps last night:

It had lot of good clusters, and two of the clusters both had little baby pins, that i took and put on agar, to also clone. AM now taking prints from 9 more caps, which i will let print twice, and since i cant get in to marketplace yet, will be having a giveaway in AMU.
Besides those cakes, there is one more brf cake that is just not finishing up colonizing, and just started to pin in-vitro, that i am going to spawn to two big gulps, with Sloppy's help :grin
I also have a pretty god amount fo pasty plates going on at the moment. I have 2 plates from the same GT multi-spore syringe that i made the cakes with, that are about to get a couple transfers from, and i just made i think 5 or 6 transfers to plates from another plate i made with the previous two, with the GT syringe. I then have 2 plates of Texas Orange Cap, 2 of PE6, and 2 or Ecuadorians that i just made two or three days ago from some prints that someone was super nice enough to give me.(Thanks Munch for tTex OC and PE6, and Tipote for the Ecu), and will be making a couple plates of Stopharia after a month or so(also Munch, thanks), Dont want to get too, much going on at once. After making transfers and cleaning up all those plates, i am planning on making a few more brf cakes for the SGFC, and also some WBS quarts to spawn to some Mini Monos, and some more Gulps.
Then, lastly, as I said, I took some tissue samples of certain mushies. I have 6 that i made from the big 8in guy, from pic up top, and then 2 more from those cluster pins.
This is one of the clusters:

and the other:

And that is about it for mycology-wise.
Besides this hobby, I enjoy playing guitar and making music, and also enjoy programming applications, games, and web pages, but i like to do applications and game more-so. Computer Programming is what i am in school for at the moment. I also have a full time job, which is a lame office job, which is obviously temporary, but i at least get to work from home for the most part. So it's an office job that i do from home, heh..
Sorry for the long bio, but just wanted to introduce myself to you, and also thank everyone in mush cult, especially the TCs and other experienced cultivators, for helping me along the way, welcoming me, and helping me with future projects.

Not necessarily a noob, but haven't gotten the chance to "meet and greet". Growing a B+ mono at 107qts. 1:2 ratio, wbs, horse manure, verm, and gypsum - it is currently knotting and pinning with a 3.5" sub depth. I have Ecuador's, Mazatapec, and Pan Cambos in jars from agar. Looking to do some isolates after I get a clone from a nice cluster in this current grow (or is that a double negative?). Anyways, back to work for me. I've seen most of you (TCs) around and have seen your grows and teks and am so grateful for all the information and guidance this forum offers.

Hey,
I am a noob as well. I have quite a few completed and fruited cakes under my belt.
I haven't moved on yet except for a couple mini monos spawned with brf cakes to coir/verm, which did very well. I haven't posted any of my pictures or anything yet but will get around to it soon I hope.
I wish to give back to the community by helping others on their first grows and sharing my experience with cakes and sgfc's and hopefully when I move on to grains, help others as well.
Cheers!

I just like that scene because it's the major turning point and shows that he's more than just a brutal capitalist. He knew what he was going to do was probably going to cost him his life, but "No wife, no kids". Awesome fucking movie all around but that scenes my personal favorite.

Noob reporting in ]
Lurked since last summer, then decided to poke my head out of the weeds. Its truly nuts how much knowledge has accumulated in these place .. if you multiply the people and years of threads
Have 6 tubs finished up[ of PESA, wavy cap colony on the go and 30 Q of stones in the works. Few bags and pints of Pan Cam. APE and PE fresh onto agar, and some reshi/lion's mane on the way via trade for Huatla + PESA.
Will spread the spores around and try and give some lower level advice
I'm a scientist by heart and soul, although I'm a tekkie currently by trade
Always up for a discussion on the big questions in life and for experimentation in mycology
Happy to be here ! And greetings to all

I've got 4 quarts of rye in a spawn bag PC'ing right now. I plan to inject an entire ms syringe from my trusted vendor through the SHIP on the bag. I have high hopes for all to go well, but if not it only cost me a couple bucks.
I'm waiting for some 1/2 pint rye jars to finish colonizing. I'll dump a few into another 4 quart rye spawn bag when they're done. One of the jars is equipped with vendor sourced LC lids, which will allow me to make some GLC, which will be used to noc up a third 4quart rye spawn bag.
Also waiting a couple more days before I check on my first ever pastyplates. Out of 8, I think maybe only 4 got just one single drop. I need to work on my hand stability apparently. Idk what I'm going to do with the agar... probably blenderless LI to spawn bag.
By the time everyone is colonized, I hope to have my current cakes finished so I can retire my SFGC to a friend. I will try my hand at printing with those cakes.... I'm pretty much learning everything and seeing what's best for me. I only started a couple months ago but with the great knowledge of these boards I'm progressing rather quickly and confidently
Thanks you

I've been lurking for the last 3 months, learned a shit load. I've been trawling the FB page mostly for the last month, helping out more noobish people there. Started growing about 2 and a half months ago. Done well enough. went straight for grains and bulk substrate. Using a hpoo/coir/verm/gypsum/lime mixture. Pasteurizing in oven bags, but trying to figure out a better way to do bulk, since I'm going to be doing about 10 tubs in the next couple weeks.
I've grown 5x 56 litre monotubs, 3 PE, 1 Shooting star, 1 Ecuador and a few smaller 20-30 litre tubs of EC and Amazonia. Gotten about 9kg fresh mushrooms out in my first 2 months. Planted a few outdoor patches got some big shrooms out there. One was a 74g SS. The PE in my tubs have given me 96g and 108g mushrooms.
Current got 30+ colonised jars of a mixture of Malabar Coast, Mazapatec, Ecuador, Amazonia and PE.
I've got some nice clones and isolates going on Agar and will inoculate those to grains, as soon as I've made the next few tubs from the jars that are fully colonised.
I've also got 4x King Oyster and 4x Blue Oyster jars colonising Sorghum at the moment, looking to find some decent sawdust in my part of the world seems fucking impossible, everything is just pine. So got teff straw, bran, coffee, and gypsum to grow on. Thinking of testing a 10-15% amount of Hpoo in the edibles substrate. Will do more research before I get to that.
Just wanted to say thanks to all the people that helped me grow, I'll definitely carry on giving back.

When germinating, always keep in mind the 'time to full colonization'
This time = how long contams have to colonize the rest of the bag/jar
Single cell organisms have a huge leg up on complex life for reproduction speed. Not to mention little to no delay in getting started (unlike the 4-15+d fungi germination)
Next issue would be the huge amount of genetics going on. Few drops has a lot, 10cc is like a city's worth.
Those grain bags with SHIP are meant for LI or LC. The latter is a bitch to know if it's clean too.
Start small, get some growth, then move that into a nice sterile bag for munchies

But ppl are going to put spores to grain directly no matter what we say I feel like
But yeah, use as little solution as possible to be safe (if you're going to do that).

Lost 3 strains to date from direct grain. Hopefully my loss can help someone.
I'm even nervous now to germinate on 175ml of grain with verm layer @room temp. Once you get a nice master jar you can expand that massively. Used 2tsp per pint of grass seed to save my ATL strain

Newbie here as well. I'm not sure I quite understand this part... So if I get a syringe with a ton of spores in them and inject them into a larger jar (say, a quart jar), would this be putting spores to grain directly like you're warning against? Or do you mean a large bag? Not sure which parts I'm misunderstanding.

Besides using petri dishes / pastyplates, PF tek is the next 'cleanest' method of germination. Smaller and dryer is safest for whole grains.
Wet is bad unless you are starting with adult mycelium. And even then it's riskier, but the timeline are shortened by 3x

youre jars are fine, just wash them. they mean to toss the stuff in the jar. or bury it. i like to bury stuff that way there is still a chance to get some fruits.

I understand the risk of MS to grain but right now it's the only thing I have to noc with. I'll do proper LC/LI/G2G/A2G when I have the supplies to. I'm still confident though. I injected 5cc's MS into two 1 quart spawn bags successfully before.
Haha just like you said, I'm still gonna do it anyway :P

What's up Azur! I'm a noob here as well, but trucking along nicely with first grow finishing up, might squeeze out a very small 5th flush (b+/grains/manure/cased/mono) and 2nd tub just put in to fruiting. Got some GT's colonizing that will go in coir and prepping to try out some agar. I really just signed up hoping for some free snacks and porn (thanks for your avatar)but managed to actually learn some shit so far, lol. Anyway, hope all is well, feel free to say what up.
Cheers!

Only done the PF-tell so far and hopefully one day I will decide to try a bulk(hopefully soon). My grows and current one are in my signature if you wanted to check out my newbie grow lol.

Na, albino A+.
People were talking about doing spore to grain here and I wanted to just add to that.
I did spore to grain for years and never had issues because I was lucky, I finally moved over to working with agar now though and wish I had done it sooner. The time it takes to expand your mycelium on agar is rapid as hell and when I tigerdropped 2.0 the plates into spawn jars, they colonized so fast it was surprising.
It's worth it right now to sit here, order the mini rounds, exacto knife, agar, potato flakes and etc. off Amazon and take that step sooner than later. Completely changed the way I look at cultivating now because I can just have little plates that I could turn into oz's of mushrooms in a month at any time

Hey! I'm new to this place, have 9 jars of Pc 1.5 weeks in, doing fine so far, going to do a SGFC when the time comes. I have been starting to hunt for Ovoids, no luck so far.
I haven't tripped in 30 years but I am going again to soon. Ate a gram a couple of months ago which just intensified the desire.
Seems like everybody is pleasant here which is fine with me, was on a couple of message boards years ago, generally had a dislike for them since but this place is cool, it's like an encyclopedia with a live help desk.

Nice! I'm happy for you. The reward of tripping off your own fruits is great. You will have an even better time knowing you did all the work yourself. Welcome!

Hello to the shroomery community! I'm not exactly a noob anymore- but I've made few posts- using the search function has sufficed for most of my questions.
I've been mostly a lurker and a taker- but I'd like to give back to the community.
Anyone interested in growing Panaeolus? Great potency and a different trip- check the link below the snowy picture for a relatively simple start to finish protocol.

Hello I'm a lurker but started posting recently. Hope I can share some cool stuff soon.
Built a vertical flowhood with a brand new astrocel II hepa filter from AAF Intl. Having good results on agar so far. Just getting into cloning so I've got a few isolates running on oats so I can try them out on bulk. Very excited to get even pinsets and big yields. Had trouble with contams and yields while messing with MS>LC. Dumped those altogether. Now I'm on the agar trail.

Hello everyone,
new to the forum however I've been lurking for a few months. Tripped my first time a couple months back and loved the experience. So I started researching growing methods and deciding which method would work best for me. Went with the spore syringes with the rye grain method. I'm following techniques and tips by "The Mushroom Cultivator". Just inoculated my first jars a couple of hours ago. Super excited to start seeing some mycelium growth!

Hell yea, your first post on shroomery too, welcome. I read the mushroom cultivator 2 months ago and some of the information was outdated. staments talks about colonizing substrate in the dark and so on which is unnecessary, probably other bs too. Not a bad book though but there's better current information already on this website.

The patience thing, I was away over the weekend and my now 11 days since inoculation jars have really advanced without me looking at them twice daily, haha set it and forget it. They still appear to be doing fine. Wait some more. I am going away for about a week in 6 days, that will help, they should be getting close by the time I return from that next trip.
