Kershaw vs Gerber for every day carry.

I've carried Gerbers for most of my life, but I'm unhappy with their warranty service. I've made two warranty claims, and both were bad experiences. They're totally unresponsive until you send them angry emails threatening to leave bad reviews online.
So, I'm switching.
What is your experience? Is my Gerber experience just a fluke? Is Kershaw any better? What made you choose one over the other?
I should add that Kershaw's assisted opening is absolutely not a selling point for me, and I'll be removing the spring-bar as soon as I get home.

Gerber is generally a budget knife company.
Kershaw makes high end knives with high end steels.
Kershaw is way better than Gerber generally. I like the Kershaw rake knife.

i gotta agree.. kabar is it.. but in the sake of conversation, i like my gerber.
i have never had to have a warranty claim with them due to the people i know, but i still like the edge i can put on them and fix them.
my response doesnt really help your situation though. if you have to go through a shit warranty process why buy the product.
my suggestion, learn the ins and outs of knives and you wont have the customer service bullshit. if it breaks, fix it.

I should have mentioned also for the sake of the OP that I love all my gerber and used them as my daily carry for years until I got my most recent kabar. I used to carry flips but i prefer my fixed much better. I only ever had and issue one time with a gerber and they replaced it no problem when I complained cuz it had broken in an un fixable spot.
Another favourite for cheap quality knives is buck. A few of my favourite flips are buck.

My first claim was just getting a replacement pocket clip. I used to somehow hook it on the seatbelt of my forklift when I jumped out, bending it open. Eventually, it broke. My current claim is just to get a replacement thumb stud. I didn't notice that it was loose, and it fell right out.
I have no problem lubricating and sharpening blades, so I just want to know that if I need to fall back on the company for a replacement part, they'll actually be there.
What's the Kabar customer service like?
Edit: The kabar options are slim for me. I'm a big fan of drop tip around 3" or 3.25" with a liner lock.

Kershaw knives are great. Check out the "junkyard dog". I have a J.Y.D. II, among a few other kershaws. It has no spring assist, but a flipper to assist one hand opening. It has great ergonomics and its smooth operating. The original junkyard dog is bigger than the II.
Gerbers make decent beaters. If i know im cutting open bags of cement or sand, Id rather not use a kershaw. Their tight tolerances dont like grit.

I love my endura. Mine is blue, and has the "wave feature". The wave is the coolest one hand opening knife I have. It opens up fast as you draw the knife from your pocket. No springs or safety to fiddle with. It also serves as a bottle opener. I also havea G10 delica, and a tenacious.
Spyderco makes a great knife for the money. I consider them the Japanese Kershaw. I tend to gravitate more toward Kershaw.

What makes you say that? Will they give me free knives or something? I could drive to their headquarters demand satisfaction if I wanted, but I shouldn't have to. They lost me.

I have a Kershaw Blackout that a friend gave to me many years ago. It has been an awesome knife and takes a nice edge. I owned the knife for years thinking the whole time that it was missing a screw in the rear of the handle when in reality it was a lanyard screw port with a hole in the middle. Anyway, I contacted Kershaw about it and sent them a picture of the knife, they politely informed that the screw was indeed present but asked me if I wanted them to send another one anyway. Ha! That's pretty awesome warranty service.

I've owned both. I had my gerber for ~ 10 years. I liked it but it did not hold an edge as well as the Kershaw I got to replace it. Had the Kershaw for about a year now and won't be going back

I had a really small Kershaw i was very impressed with. It fit right on my gloves in winter. Very useful, used it alot and it was solid! Probably the size of a ring finger and it was sturdy! The little blade kept good with improper care. Excellent while it was taken care of.

Kershaw is not "high end" by any stretch of the imagination, but they are certainly much better than Gerbers. The Kershaw Blur is definitely a very good knife, and its available in S30V steel if you want "high end". I also like the Kershaw Emerson collaborations very much. I like to carry the Kershaw Emerson CQC-6K. The wave feature works very well.
As mentioned above, spydercos are also pretty good. I have never been a fan of their look, though.

You bought a knife for 10usd from some random seller and are trying to get the manufacturer to replace it?
Or you literally just found a knife in the mud and are hoping to be able to buy a $10 replacement blade?

I'm a Buck knife fanboy myself. Of the 2 OP inquired about the Kershaw is a much better knife than the baby food company blades.
I've never used a Benchmade or Spyderco, but judging from what they cost they should be awesome as hell.
