First timer. Not very lucky

First time trying this and so far not so good. I thought i had followed the videos to a tee but obviously not. Ive got 3 jars left out of 10. 7 jars had this black stuff that took over and i tossed outside as you can see in the one pic. Now I have 1 jar where i dont see any problems and 2 with a little of the black stuff but the mycelium almost seems to be taking over. My ? Is. Should I stop hoping and toss em already or do these 3 look like they have a chance. They seem wet to me but i dont know shit.

Doesn't look promising but it doesn't hurt to wait a little and see what happens.

these are the same jars today
the mycelium seems to be over taking the black stuff and growing right over top. Is this hopeful or just trash?

If by chance the mycelium covers the visible black parts showing does that mean it ok to move forward with or is it just ruined whether the black is no longer showing or not. To me it slowly seems to be getting covered by mycelium like the rest of the jar but idk if thats good or not.

if you look at pics posted earlier compared to this one today you can see the mycelium growing over the black mold stuff. Any chance or no ? It wont break my heart if its a no go so dont feel bad giving me the bad news if so.

Hey bud, I would personally get rid of it. The inside could be absolutely terrible and probably is. Maybe just save your time and clean your jars and start some more.

Just tossed them outside. Suprisingly they werent as bad as i thought but still prob not worth it. I busted em up just to see what everythi g looks like as this is my first go at it and its pretty cool lol. The ones in pics were about 3/4 of the way colonized with the contam just mostly on the outside of cake where you could see in pic but the rest of the cake looked ok to me. Oh well kinda good in a way, i got to see stuff i wouldnt have been able to see unless i broke them up. Next run coming soon.

It looks like your top layer may be getting wet or something. It has to stay dry. Also make sure it reaches the top so the vermiculite isn't loose where it's moving around.
