My Current Concentrate Vape Setup 2

This is hitting just right for me. Finally found my sweet spot. Most rigs are just too much for me and most pens are too pitiful. This rig will put out the clouds when I need them and is quite discrete the rest of the time. It also prefers a box mod to an ego style battery, so that is fun to play with.

Tell me about it. It has taken me a few years to find a vape setup that feels right to me. The whole concentrate revolution happened while my old ass wasn't looking.

Just need a 510 to Ego connection for your box mod and you are good to go.
She likes to hit between 10 and 15 volts (I only go above 13 for a few hits when I am trying to burn off some reclaim without soaking in alcohol to keep the coils cleaner). So the wattage is pretty much in line with an ego pen at that voltage, but the Kanger battery can be much larger, and a concentrate hit takes more time and therefore more energy than a typical e-juice puff. That is where the box mod really shines.
Of course, you will need to replace the attys occasionally, and the likelihood of you burning one or two out while you are just getting to know it is quite high, because almost everyone will try to stretch the boundaries of the voltage before they learn their lesson the hard way. But with proper usage and maintenance, an aromizer typically lasts around a month with proper use, and there are other brands with Orb threading which are rebuildable... but I have not bought any yet.

Looks pretty cool. You can probably get away with puffing on that in public, even. I only vape nicotine, and last week I was out sitting in my parked car, vaping away on my box mod. I was like 10 feet from an old ass cop (no kidding, I don't think I've ever seen a cop this elderly), and at first it looked like he was going to approach me about it, but he never did. If I had thc in there, he would've never known.
Aside: nice to see you around boomtown. I always see you on FB, but you seem to be keeping your distance from the homies here.

There is a certain vibe people get when they see someone using a box mod setup. Like it is too advanced for them to even ask questions about it, so this is stealthy as all Hell. As long as I am not smoking a cigarette at the same time.
I took a nice break from this place. Trying to get my drinking under control and I noticed I drank a LOT more often when I posted here. Fucking hormones have reduced my tolerance but once drunk I still want to drink like a champ. I noticed I was regretting things I did and posted the next day, so I took a break to keep me from accidentally permabanning someone because I was on a bender or something.
I am just getting my feet wet again now because I miss this place. It is my second home. But if I can't keep my head straight, it isn't worth it.

Word. Sometimes it's nice to take a few months away. Glad to hear you've got things under control a bit more. See you around!

You too man.
Haven't had a drink in at least a week. Don't remember the exact day. So drinking less is becoming easier for me, and I am not celebrating the day of my last drink either. I just drink on occasion now. It is weird. A 12 pack a day used to be my minimum.

American dollars.
I like the Star Wars comparison. It looks kind of futuristic and yet utilitarian.

So you can vape any concentrate in that?
Sorry I really know nothing about vapes. lol
But I really want to get one. So yeah I've never owned a vape, so I'm not really following all of your lingo.
Do you think this is good for a first time vape owner. Id rather get a good one off the bat.

Definitely a good starting point. I have done things the hard way and worked through 4 or 5 concentrate pens before landing on this one. There are still better things out there but they start getting costly from here on up. Save yourself some money and avoid a micro-G style pen or one of those shitty cheap glass globes you find at most head shops. There are a few forums and reddits that are quite helpful to start your research. Otherwise it can be like finding a needle in a haystack at first.
Yes any concentrate can vape in this (the goal is to avoid burning but sometimes you can combust if you get greedy on a hit) but Kief and hash will gunk up your little atomizer (heating element) far more quickly so I stick with resin, budder, wax, shatter and live resin.
With proper use and care, 5 atomizers should last you at least six months. So about $5 a month to keep her running once you are all set up.

Awesome thanks! This helps alot. I've been trying to find somewhere to start. And have been asking but no one really had a straight answer.
I'm gonna do more research about the actual pieces that make up a vape.
But is the atomizer like a nail for a rig?
I see this comes with a quartz and a ceramic atomizer, along with a dry herb one...

Atomizers are little battery powered ovens often heated by a metal coil. They wrap around rods or are cast inside donuts. The wires eventually wear out and break. Then you need to replace them.
Like a nail, different materials like ceramic, titanium, fiber wick or quartz can have various effects on the heating. I don't like fiber wicks because it seems they can burn (ew).
Quartz gives a harsh, clean hit. Most like a nail I have experienced.
Ceramic is pourous so some wax will wick into the ceramic itself, giving you a few extra hits when otherwise you would need to reload. Alas, eventually that wax in the ceramic will start to taste like nasty reclaim and need a thorough but gentle cleaning before proper flavor is restored. It is great to pack pretty full and keep you going for several hours of intermittent puffing. It is my first choice when I am on the go.
Ceramic donuts give small hits but combust very little so you get true vapor. Great for terpy stuff like live resins. If you spend more for flavor, you should also vape it in something that really highlights that flavor.
The flower attachment is a cute novelty but it basically combusts your weed and tastes or hits no better than a pipe and a lighter while being harder to reload.

Fuckcombustion.com
And Reddit wax pen and portable dabs are good places to chat about vape pens and getting started.
The Reddit folks are not the biggest fans of my setup but they all seem to like one specific brand. I would like to try their product to see if it is worth all the fuss but I am quite happy with this for now.

I am almost certain you could, although I would use a new atomizer for that (just so it isn't gunked up and the DMT has direct contact with the coil and rod).
I mean, DMT likes 350-400 degrees to vaporize and this unit can do that easily.
I like the way you think... It would definitely be worth a try!
