too much hummidity
    #2314775 - 02/08/04 04:51 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

I am setting up my fruiting chamber. And I am doing some test runs on it now. I got the temp right(76 deg.) and I got air exchange and all that but I am finding that water is collecting on the lid of the chamber. when I open the chamber lid their is all kind of water droplets falling down, will this bother my cakes? or will this be fine? If this isn't fine what can I do to fix it. thnx in adavance-LJ

The water droplets on the cakes and shrooms from those could be a problem. May cause rotting.

Apply a THIN layer of vaseline to the lid and that will cut down the condensation forming big time.

This a PMP type setup with airtubes and all that or you using an ultrasonic device?

rain is fine. don't use vaseline. it is a petroleum product and will make mushrooms do scary things.

Doh! Good call. Forgot about the petroleum thing. Use K-Y instead!

Afoaf has a small pmp (10x15x10) and was worried about
the same thing. She did a dunk for 10hrs then rolled in dry verm.
The cakes were placed in plastic lids with verm and verm was
piled on top. This way if some did drip off it would be absorbed
by the verm on top.

Why dont you get a humidity meter... and tell us what it sais?

Water dropping down does seem like a little to much humidity.

Penalties against drug use should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself. Nowhere is this more clear than in the laws against the possession of marijuana and mushrooms in private for personal use.
