Growin on side beneath cake

So for my first try at growing i got growkit, after 9 days i like what i see but there is ton of babies growing beneath the surface on sides of the box, well i understand why this is happening but is this totally normal and happens always or i should have covered the sides from light? Well i could have taken cake out and grow it in something bigger but my contamination paranoida would not let me even think about it. And what should i do when picking them off and prepering for flush? Should pull out what i can and leave the rest or try to lift the cake? Is the next flush gonna be ok if i leave the shrooms beneath there?

Side pinning is normal, blocking light won't prevent it. What kit are you using?

I wouldn't worry about them since they wont grow and consume much of substrate.
some people dump the substrate after each flush to enhance growth. search for it.

Once a cake is fully colonized it is much more contamination resistant.
I would harvest the first flush, take the cake out of the bag/jar it's in, harvest the side pins, dunk in water for a few hours and place in a properly built SGFC. If it's just one cake the FC can be made smaller. I've found those tubs of coffee to be good small fruiting chambers. Get the taller ones for more room.
Good luck.

Gonna try to take it out of box and harvest all, a lot of friends have had problems even getting 2nd flush so maybe better to not waste what i have from first one. Thank you lads for help, really appreciate it.

Also those side pins can rot if not removed with the rest. Rot allows contams to mess your stuff up. I'd pick them when you harvest everything. I made a mistake once and let them stay. Didn't make it to the next flush. Now I follow this monotub tek from spitball to prevent side pins.

Hi, I'm experiencing the same problem. May I ask how you resolved it?
