alternative uses for polystyrene petris

I bought a sleeve of petris that I planned on using for agar work. Long story short there not sterile anymore because of a hole in the bag. What can I use these for now? The only thing I can think of is they would be perfect for spore prints. I could cleanthem with dawn and let them sit in bleach water and then after there dried put them in my SAB and use alcohol to re sanitize them before the print. Would my print be viable to use send keep long term. Im going to be doing this for art by putting everything I've printed on the plates in a 3d picture box so you can see the prints kind of like a trophy but it would be cool to know that if I ever wanted to grow something I just gotta scrap a bit off and do agar to clean it a little.

I've seen people take a print on a piece of glass and sandwich it with another for art purposes, don't think I've seen it done with petris though. Considering prints aren't sterile anyway, I'm sure one could be cleaned on agar later on.

Awesome thank my collection begins. I like that 2 piece of glass idea also. Could make an awesome sun catcher.

One more question, If I were to trade prints with someone would they be upset if the prints were on polystyrene petris? I'd like to start trading prints soon but don't want to upset anyone.

It's been done before. I remember I read some time ago about someone who used petris for spore printing.

You want your letter to be as inconspicuous as possible. A perfect circle bulging out would be kinda suspicious and it may break during the delivery.

How big is the hole? If its just a tiny little one me personally I would run with it. I doubt they all contamed. I mean pour them and bag them up for a few days to see if they are clean. You be out what 9 grams of agar at the worst. Agar is cheap from the asian markets.

About nail sized in a few places. I know there not sterile because I found the hole and just tossed them in my shed for 2 years or more. I don't really like throwing out polystyrene.

Yeah my first sleeve I used had a small pin hole in a corner. I was a noob and said screw it. poured them up and not a one was contamed. But sitting outside with multiple holes I would toss them too.

These are prints being taken on petris at the Procare mushroom farm in the Netherlands. Photo by John Allen.

The first prints I ever saw were on petris in amsterdam.
