Are they all same strain? I would keep #'s 2, 5, and 9 for next round of transfers. #4 if those spots are just water marks on the lid. IMO it's not worth transferring from a contaminated plate if you have cleaner, better looking plates of the same strain. Unless you're working to specifically cleaning a wild culture or something like that. :2cents:

#2 I would transfer from 1-2 o clock, 5 o clock, 7-10 o clock

Hi,

I've had an experience of eating shrooms, but not growing them. I failed my first Pf tek as the green mold took over it. Second time, I tried a micro cake and you see results on a pic, but I have a few worries and questions.

Does they look healthy to you? The white structure remained white till the end except one black spot that may be verm. What happens if I eat a contam. one, how dangerous is it? : )

The biggest of caps let the gills down in a matter of hours. Is it safe to eat the small one where the spores fell, after dehydrating it? Gills/spores changed the color of a cake, made it a bit blackish, bluish, is it safe to dunk it?

Why did it happened they grew out of the bottom of a cake and how can I avoid it in a future?

I'd appreciate your time on this 🙏

Those look perfectly healthy. Unless the mushroom itself has a contam like green or black mold on the mushroom it will be perfectly fine to eat. The little ones that spores dropped onto are also perfectly safe to eat. Spores are not harmful at all, they don't taste the best though. And lastly they all grew from the bottom because that is where the best microclimate was. The best place where water was there and evaporating. Overall for a micro cake that looks pretty good. Good job! 👍

Hi all,

Trying to work out if I should be worried. This is 48hrs after first dunk.

Little taught threads are connecting the tops of some of the pins. They're very weak - if I touch or fan them it disappears. Looks like spider webs, they're all point to point - all connected between 2 points, not just fuzzing around.

First appeared 24 hours after a dunk, I fanned, they vanished. Next morning back again in the same place. Someone suggested cobweb mold, but this seems to be slower and not dense? It's also not fuzzing around 1 pin, but straight lines between several.

I can't imagine how a mold connects point to point at the tops of pins like this... but I don't think it can be an actual spider. Any ideas?

Did you dunk with all those aborts or are those new mushrooms?
They're soggy wet and you most likely have a fungus gnat, larvae problem which is where the web like threads are coming from.

Gnats eh? Thank you. Anything to be done about the larvae?

Yeah this is 2 days after first dunk(~3hrs). This is my first harvest, still getting a feel for the full process.

I was following RRs advice to leave pins in, and leave it alone, but it didn't really dry out quickly on it's own like I hoped. Everything looks a little sad and soggy.

I took the lid off for a few hours after this photo to dry the top better, but this tub doesn't seem happy after the dunk.

Hi, I was wondering whether this is mold or just something weird that happened. This jar was inoculated with a wedge and shaken only once near the beginning. Somehow these grains got really loosely packed, and they all got colonized before the rest of the jar.

Here's how it looks at approximate full colonization. It's wispier than the rest of the jar:

Can you tell whether it's mold?

Hi guys. I was wondering about these green areas. This is the result of the first transfer from agar plate which was initially inoculated from spore print.

Both the initial dish and this recipient dish quickly developed(3 days or so) very light fluff like surface and the central part where the myc should be is developing kinda weak and slow and doesn't tend to fill the dish but rather stay in this state showing no further signs of growth.

Should I discard all these plates? Is it possible that the spore print was irreparably contaminated with mold?
Thank you!

All areas except middle part looks weird to me, I have other dishes with different "strains" they develop white myc from center without second layers on sides but all you see here is only 3rd day of growth and this side layer has already took all the surface of the dish. I have 8 dishes from the one spore print and all 8 have same problem.

What is going on here?! Initally I thought mold and was ready evacuate. But why is it so blue? Could be grey, but looks pretty blue to me. We would be around to the third flush so a contam would not be unlikely, but... it looks blue!

That tub looks dry as fuck. Even the mold is struggling. I'd take that outside and water it.
