1 out of 24 wbs jars got this going on. I just started pcing my own grains and wbs and this is the first 1 contaminated. Was wondering if a dawn wash and dishwasher was fine for this jar or if people pc after both washes before loading up again. I used to get this same problem maybe 4 out of ten with a boil bath before pc. But I used popcorn mostly and have new jars now.

Im noob but I toss it outside and flush it with water, when put in bleach bath for 24h and then wash it well, dry and pc with grain. Dont had a problem doing like this, I think its not hard to wash contaminations from glass.

Don't throw it out yet! It looks good to me, it's eating the green agar, myc loves green.
A little irregular, but plenty sites for transfer IMHO.

Yes I did transferes, will see if it will clean up. Its blue dye not green. But the center looks fuzzy and not white like ryzo myc...

I never like it when my myc grows like that and always transfer from those just to see if there's any mold underneath the cube (presumably) mycelium that grew past the weaker mycelium/mold in the center. Watch the transfers and see how they do. They should be more uniform and white like you'd expect

What do you guys think the yellowing is? Mycelium metabolites or something else?

That's my grow kit after the first harvest. The white "coat" or "fur" showed up on the shrooms. Is it fine or should I throw it away?

You guys are both fine ^

Ive had yellowing like that before and think it could just be drying, matting, metabolites or some sort of colour from the grains  its fine tho.

Fuzzy feet is ok its just from higher humidity and its never caused issues for me, dont throw it away!

Jah bless, goood work boys. :peace:

How about it? I'm particularly worried about the ripples.

These are the first gen after MSS plates.

Bruising only showed after I (like a dumb f**k) left the lids to my tubs open [it's cold where I live, heat them, left lids, pads were on all night at full blast] so that's not such a big deal for me. If you can tell, yes, I poked the myc on one of them with my finger. For science.

Welp the one you poked is probably fucked. The rings are from temp swings, nothing to worry about

The plates are going to be tossed anyway, greener grass elsewhere.

That's a huge relief and makes a profound amount of sense.

Thank you so much, seriously.

How is leaving your tubs open going to affect those jars? If you meant you left the lids off of those jars then yeah whoops! I'm assuming you were only able to get those pictures by removing the jar lid in open air. If you were already going to toss them then that makes sense

The room I have my work set up in gets to be around 15C (60F) at night so I worked up some incubation tubs: a seedling mat, a towel, sterilite tub, agar plates, lid, another towel over.

I was checking out the plates but I'm rehabbing a squirrel who started getting feisty so I went to go check on her, got side-tracked, left the tubs open, heat was just rocking all night but not staying in because there was nothing to keep it in.

60F at night is just fine. If you can incubate correctly without getting it too hot, like 70-75F then by all means. Personally I wouldn't mess with incubating. My room goes from about 75-55F and everything does just fine. I've tried incubating once years ago, let it get too hot like 80-85F and every single jar was lost to bacteria. Just my opinion

I've birthed 5 cakes, dunked and rolled, they are happily in their fruiting chamber for 5 days now. 99% humidity and 69 degrees, pretty steady temps. I found 2 moss colored green spots on two of my cakes. I used a Qtip to remove and will attach a photo of the color. Should I throw the cakes out? Or is removing the contaminate with a Q-tip sufficient? I had a first successful batch and this one, I am fearful is a failure. Novice grower. NM, it won't let me upload a jpeg photo. :frown: Thanks for any feedback!

Sounds like it could be the forest green mold Trichoderma. I believe removing with a q-tip would only serve to distribute those mold spores which is something you don't want. If it is indeed trich, I would carefully place those cakes in a bag and toss them. You want to do what you can to limit those spores from coming off those cakes and landing all over your area.

So yes, you were right, found better plate where we can see the myc and contams... Did transfere you can see on foto . Contamination change agar color it eats food coloring? White spot where myc is have no color change.

Anyone have an answer to the question about agar changing color/losing color with contams? My green agar slowly changes to an orange/yellow color as the myc grows.
