There are certain contams that exist that could pose a health hazzard if you breath them in deeply and regularly. The only thing I would worry about is opening it up within the grow area (dont do that). If you are growing in an apartment it might be a bad idea but you can just do it outside. You can reuse the glass jars too. Take the good mycelium away from the jar and move it to a flowerpot with a small amount of whatever substrate you have around (potting soil is an easy fix for this). Keep it moist by misting the top every once in awhile. You should see some good things within a few weeks.

Ever kind and patient hive mind,
So I have had some success using small shoebox sized chambers. Rather a fine first grow, if I do say so myself. I went from agar to grain, then to my casing in that case.
I saved one of the jars and did the G2G method, and was rewarded with a rather fine set of jars that all appeared to be colonized in a very healthy way. I decided to try a larger mono-tub, and pasturized my coir/verm in the same say I had previously in a cooler at around 165 for 1hr and 15 min or so.
Well, I've appeared to get some... well. It doesn't seem to be healthy growth. I tried using H2O2 to try and halt it's advance, but it just seems to be gaining in strength. I've taken some close photos of some various areas of the tub. I'm not quite sure what it is, looking through the various types of possible contamination. Does someone with more experience have an idea of what it is, and how I might avoid it in the future?

Cobweb mold moves very fast. It likely would take over that whole thing in 8 hours.

I don't see anything bad looking from those pictures. I'd say let it ride and see what happens. If you are concerned, maybe move that tub away from your other projects to avoid cross contamination.

On my second grow and the cakes (pf tek) are fruiting well. I've noticed what looks like mini rhizomorph mycelium on a couple of the caps. I feel like it just got in the way as the pin erupted, and ended up on the caps.
Anything to be concerned about here?

Normal, nothing to worry about. Might be an indication of high RH but as long as there is sufficient FAE, lots of RH is a good thing.

I had to deal with some contamination a couple months back. At first my 66qt tubs would show sign of trich after the first flush, then it was during the first flush, and then i would be contaminated before the first flush. I had to take absolutely everything outside and dispose of substrate and also spray everything with a hose and soak with bleach. After that I switched to shoeboxes for a single grow to try and isolate any contamination. I put a box fan with an air filter in my room to scrub the air for a month. On my next agar transfer i put in open container of agar inside my still air box and in the center of room to see if spores are floating around the air. I have not had any contamination since.

I thought this might be interesting. I plan to try this technique on some bacterial pan prints that I have trouble getting clean.
From what I can tell it is a method invented by some Chinese people who apparently reside in China.
Here is the paper, called:
"A handy method to remove bacterial contamination from fungal cultures"

It seems related to other things we have done like sandwich agar, hot pour and such.
Take a fresh petri. Make a hole in the middle. Inoculate aforementioned hole with the culture they wish to clean up. Then they put a slide cover over it. Mycelium makes its way out of that trap, the bacteria stays back.
They do it with molds which they - for some reasons that escape the active psilocybine mushroom growers imagination - intend to clean up.
But they might work with real mushrooms.
Basically to me as layman it appears that mycelium can travel across obstacles that bacteria cannot. The technique in this article might be one way worth to try out.

I suspect this is my good ol' friend trich showing up before it turns full green (currently it's somewhere between white and blue). Can anyone please confirm?
This is the third flush of this tub, with most pin caps turning black and a few bigger sidepins. It had inconsistent growth away from this area, so if this is indeed trich, it has been there from the beginning.
edit: It turned more green and grew bigger, overtaking over the mushroom abort on the right side. Yikes.

So I screwed up my agar but I decided to throw in some spores anyway to see how it goes because I never used spores before and these spore prints I took myself. The agar is too moist but just for curiosity's sake is the white one micelium? The little black dot at its center is the spores

Hey guys!
I'm a total Newbie and don't know if I'm doing right. I started my grow kit on 5th September. There is not much happening anymore and no shrooms yet. And I suggest I got a contamination, but I'm not sure. Insecurities as fuck.
I hope somebody can tell me whats going on there and that it's not that bad

Hey guys...
Tried to clone a store bought king oyster mushroom..
Later on, it started to produce some metabolites..
Looks like piss driplets...
Fully colonized without visible contamination..
Can i get some mushrooms from this or will it be a waste of time?
