Im in the same environment as you are. My "lab" and grows are in the same 2x2m space, I vertically placed a king-size bed frame and sort of separated the whole room in two (just for the show ofc).
place where I sleep
place where the grow is.

For ozone gen.
You must seal the room somehow to reach concentration.
I close the one and only window and take all living organisms out of the room.
I leave dry grain/straw in the room (maybe partially sterilizes the thing, dunno)
once everything you need from your living space is taken turn the generator on, close the door and then tape up the gaps between the door and the frame.

they have timers ofc so just set it to run for whatever time and once its done wait from 30min to a few hours depending on how long you were running the thing. but you dont want to be in that room when its running. trust.

even if it works its gonna take long time to colonize.
look at the basics man. def worth it.

sterilize some grains and shoot the syringe. that would come out much better than this "mix".

Honestly that way to much hassle for me.

If anything i would grab one of those dyson hepa air cleaners and just keep it on 24/7 in my room.

But to be honest i have some pretty good success if i just take the precautions for doing sterile work.

For example:
- take a shower before doing SAB work
- wear fresh laundered clothes
- scrub arms with dish soap up past elbow
- tie hair back or wear a hat with long hair all tucked up
- plug the Heating/ac vent and close window

Then just soak the SAB down with 70% iso and practice very critical sterile tek.

I will soon be getting a Hepa fan filter flow hood, god only knows where it s guna fit LOL

I read a bit about the ozone and it seems very bad for human / animal health, plus that seems like to much work for me.

Honestly just buy some petri dishes and pre mixed agar on amazon and pour plates, then inoculate your spore to the agar dishes.

Its really alot easier than you may think. Do not be afraid ! it makes mycology so much more worth it to be able to clean cultures before introducing to substrates.

its all about saving yourself the time lost if projects fail IMO, ensuring success with knowing your shit is clean is crucial.

Does anybody know what these yellowish blots are in this tub? They are pretty solid.

This is how the tub looked a few days later. The fruits stayed really tiny and opened the veil already at about 2.5cm / 1" size.

Also, are those shrooms safe to consume when properly dried?

Thanks a lot guys!

Mush will be safe to consume but the whole thing is a bit bacterial.

Yeah I know what u sayin.
my friend bought it a while ago and didn't use it so I just have that thing laying around.
I do a sesh once in 2 weeks.

as u said, the precautions are the key really.

soapy water mist in the room and SAB does the trick.
I usually do SAB work naked, I don't have clothes which I would consider clean enough to work with.

you are not stupid! this is how you learn . Mycology takes alot of time to figure out IME.

I have spent ALOT of time and money for years learning about mycology.

Always striving for success, always failing, always throwing out contaminated tubs, always buying more coir, more grain, more more more. lol

But in the end its totally worth it to have cultivated an awesome skill and knowledge of mycology.

Keep reading books and chatting with the good folks of this community, keep starting new projects and learning from you failures!

Best of luck man.

Can one of you legends let me know if this is OK/ruined? I see some tiny green spots around the the place and I can't say I was extra careful with the whole process...

First time ever growing!

I'm not your expert, but this looks alright to me.  I can't even see the green spots in this picture.  Good effort on your first grow!  I just picked my first caps today... some freshies for the weekend!  :mushroom:

Imagine someone walked in the room and your butt ass nekkid doing lab work lmao

Also ive heard of the soapy water but never tryed, i feel like it would make a slippery mess. Although it would save on iso which is in short supply these days.

Hey folks :-)

I did my first agar petris and i´m not sure what to think about these circled growth. It´s a simple malt extract agar, spore print to agar.
One of these fellows still developing some rhizomorphic growth, but obviously under the circles...these pictures are around 3 days old.

Thanks for your help!

Take a transfer or two from the leading edges. You want to go for the cleanest most uniform looking edge. Get the myc that looks the strongest and isn’t to fuzzy because contams can hang out in the fuzzy parts. When taking a transfer you want to cut the smallest piece possible and put it in the center of a new clean plate.

I saw a post here, where someone was calling out for "hidden bacteria", the pictures shown a similar type of growth. I can´t find the original post...but this is still on my mind. Anyone who can clear this up? Thanks 🙏
