Contamination or piss? I already had two harvests, but there were very few shrooms and they were tiny (only few of them reached 2cm height). Is it safe to consume them?

looking good man. Keeping them on coir is a nice idea imo. remember when I was doing BRF cakes and used only perlite to retain RH in SGFC. Personaly I recommend making a couple of shoeboxes if you have some more cakes coming, it is easier and requires less attention. and its sort of mini bulk version.
Thanks dude that’s what is next. Slightly modified a 5L tub with bigger holes covered with micropore on two sides. Plan is to fruit two half pint BRF cakes with a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio to coir and just set it and forget it.
After that I have about 2-3 weeks until I can see about my 20 more brf jars which I have 10 APE and 10 PE. I heard APE is a slow colonizer though and that seems true. My first batch of 12 jars I lost 6 due to contam but I inoculated the APE jars on the 11th and no contams yet although sooo slow. Maybe because it’s colder than I thought in my closet.
Also any idea what’s going on with this cake?

I’m a noob here. I started cubenis in a monotub a few weeks ago and I’ve gotten some growth but it’s sporadic and there’s never been a whole flush that has grown. I obviously don’t know what I’m doing or it there’s contam. All the contam pictures I’ve don’t look like my tub so I’m unsure. I don’t know if I’m not getting enough FAE or too much/not enough misting or fanning? Help a noob out here. I have so many questions...http://

those look bad but maybe not trash
id make a new thread asking for help. picking off those aborts and proper conditions could probably yield you more shroomies.

Might be a bit bacterial thats why it sort of matted up with myc on the sides, the top is just aerial growth. doesn't look bad.

Is this what little trich colonies look like? I was hopeful there was mycelium in there but I'm not sure there's actually any.

I don't see anything I would attempt to transfer from. It's all trich.

That's alright I've got a few more plates I can transfer from.
These ones were grown off a piece of grain from a grain jar that was G3 already.
Is it worth growing anything with these cultures or is it a waste of time because they've lost their vigor?

I would try some different nute sources to try and perk it up. Lower the nutes as well, it looks laggy. I’d be shooting for 1-1.5%

Yeah it doesn't look like it'll colonize the whole plate before it pins or something.
The first plates were some Sabouraud Dextrose premixed agar. The next plates are MEA. Should I add some yeast to the next batch perhaps?

Any thoughts on what's going on here? This is APE that was spawned about 12 days ago. I have never worked with this variety or had this issue in the past. This from MS into WBS, but It was sitting for a while after the jar colonized. It looks a little suspect to me, but what do I know??

Ugghhh...off to the trash can it will go. I'll keep an eye on the other 3 shoeboxes. Hopefully it didn't spread. Thank you for the help!

Trying to figure out whats going on with these jars. They have what is like thin and white growth. I was told that it wouldn't be cobweb because they'd already be fully colonized since I noticed it earlier last week. Friend said it could be a type of grain rot???

What is the method of inoculation? They don't look healthy or at least not mycelium in there.

After several attempts I have gotten 2 tubs growing. One however started showing white fuzzy balls after the first day. The other looks more like the images I have seen for good colonies. Can anyone identify it. This is my first spawn. I have read that some contamination won't hurt it too bad, and that others will make them toxic.

1st time grower here. I am doing PF Tek. I saw what looks to me like white mold along the tin foil line of this cake. Is that mold? Has a fuzzy look to it.
