So pic 1 is continuing  the questionable saga
Pic 2 I started few days ago. The lid has a slight crack in it due to wrong lid size- never misted it- and its not fully colonized- there are four little shrooms popping up

Still seeking advice from the gods!

ok, have no idea what that white thing is, maybe cluster of albino pins somewhat deformed, hard to say man. fingers crossed it is :mushroom:

Alienwatts, yeah dude , you got a lot going on in there.

I am experiencing some of this myself with a couple of tubs and cased them with sterilized sub. they seem much better now.

it was not as bad as yours but still.
I'd probably keep those tubs outside somewhere or separate from any other grow.

yea wasn't looking right.  does casing with sterilized sub mean you covered the top with another layer of subsstrate? think this is salvageable or gotta be tossed?

Hey!

I lost my last grow due to contam and I'm bricking it this is going the same way. I cant tell if this is bruising or contam?

Attached pics below. It's in both pots unfortunately. It looks a bit more blue than that irl. If so I'm pissed as i've bought it contaminated.

Has anyone experienced a contam that resembles epoxy or honey?  My tub has seemingly been doing well colonizing with no discoloration to the mycelium.  The 512k limit on photo size might make it a bit difficult to see, but I’d say my description might help more- both clear and amber in color, and seems to resemble epoxy or honey.  (My tub is painted on the outside)

people dont usualy sterilize their substrate for casing, some use vermiculite, some just coir or mix of both or whatever casing you think is best. It creates nice micro climate on top and retains moisture, making any contams land on top of it rather than mycelium.
I think the most yellow looking tub should be tossed or make an outside project for it.
I would do that. but I am no expert in this, just experimenting my way through.

Yo. Don't think its bruising unless you dropped it hard enough or hit it.
Sorry to hear about that, shit happens. you bought a grow kit from any of sponsors of this site?

I am facing that right now, I think I've got wet bubble disease on mine even tho its very minor. or it evolved from those type of drops.
I don't have the answer of how to help you with this, I just cased my sub with sterilized substrate myself and wished all the best for it.

As long as it was totally colonized you may be okay, but it is pretty gnarly looking. No sense in wasting it really. Just keep a really good eye as it goes.

So here’s some of the in-vitro fruits I ended up harvesting a week or so ago before planting the cake in a planter outside. Was surprised at how the myc fought off the contamination honestly. When I birthed the cake it actually looked real healthy.

That fat stem beast was handled a lot as you can see how blue it got lol. Cheers mates!

Those are metabolites. They're sometimes produced in response to a contaminant. It's no reason to throw the substrate out though if it's still looking good overall.

Thank you, I’ll search metabolites and how to prevent...  Are they to be left alone or can they be countered?  It was interesting to see it forming only around the outer perimeter, where the substrate meets the tub, and not elsewhere. Perhaps a clue as to how it occurred. It definitely looks “clean”, as opposed to many of the ugly contaminants... Fingers crossed for a successful first flush ever 🤞🏼

Just leave them. They're most likely produced by the myceliumn to suppress some kind of competitor. If it's something minor you may not even notice it.

Nope, just a little fuzzy feet. Indication of needing more FAE, but that's not bad at all. You're gold

Hi Kizzle,

This is my first go at growing and using the PF Tek. I read up on all the great info provided on the website and watched RR's making mushroom videos. That being said most of my jars are looking good with mycelium growth its the 11 day but one jar has a spot at the bottom. Is this contamination?
