Yeah, everything I've read on this site says it should work as long as I increase PC times

Have you let a control jar hang out for a while to see if it contams on its own?

Then that boils it down to improper inoculation technique. Were you grains dry when you cooked them?

Hello and thank you for all the great info. Very new and I’m wondering if you can tell me if my grain jar is contaminated? Thanks

That jar looks decent, no oppressive contam, a bit of bacteria.

hi everyone!first time trying to grow mushrooms.
what do you guys think about this:

this PDA was inoculated with a lc of mckennaii, first 2 pics show the result of 4 days at 26°C (78.8°F)

and this ones are 9 days after inoculation
i used a SAB and the agar was poured 7 days before inoculation. i even left one untouched as a control for the agar it self, and that one is still clean.
i searched the forum but i didnt find anything like this. i also posted on the agar envy thread 5 days ago, but didnt got any responds.
thanks for sharing your knowledge

Is this normal Bruising? Or contamination? Is it safe to eat? What about cutting and removing the colored area?

It kinda looks like your spawn might have been a slight bit bacterial, judging by the color and shape of some of the little ones. Some mushrooms bruise greenish blue, but I see some nice blue bruises as well. Looks like normal bruising on the big guy imo. I guess they don't like their picture taken. They should be safe to eat as long as they don't feel like mushy slime and smelly funky. You can always boil them in tea to be safe.

Easiest to see in the second pic @4 days. Disorganized, thin grey fuzz.
