so im new to this. Yes I decided to go with myco bags due to covid being a bitch on pressure cooker sales.

4 bags
1 bag contaminated realized I had a hole near inject port

Down to 3
These bags have been innoculating for roughly 20 days.

Day 17 I mixed up the mycelium to spread it around to hopefully obtain a more even growth in the bag[per reviews]

Day 20 today noticing 1 bag not so much growth
Another bag huge turnout of growth all over but concerning that it might not be mycelium anymore

Bag 3 mediocre growth but yellow piss everywhere

God I have a feeling that these are no good anymore.
Anyone Please help clarify tis

Sorry for the hijack!

So are you saying you did bags, without pressure cooking them?

Look like giant hyphal knots at the top of second bag

Ah okay, wasn't sure. Well the third bag might just be putting off metabolites because it's fully colonized, but it could also be bacteria, so it'd be a risk to plant it. The first two might be okay, as I don't see any differentiation in color, but slow growth can signal bacteria.

I'd just keep an eye on the first two for another few days to a week and check back with us, but I think the third one may be pooched. You could plant it outdoors and see what'll do, as it will naturally attempt to thrive in an outdoor environment regardless of contam. Sorry, man.

Originally I was planning on the unmodified bod tek spawn / coir in one 66qt mono tub.

Due to these results. Would it be advisable to do 3 smaller mono tubs.

I've read the the yellow shit/piss lol is like a 50/50 shot.

Each bag is roughly 2.5 quarts I believe.

The one bag that's almost done, should i wait it out for the other one or induce it to life first?

What are those black flecks on the upper left corner of bag 1? Edit: NVM, it was just the moisture playing tricks.

Bag one isn't done yet either way, so you'll have to wait on that one, but yes in this case I would do them separately.

I would keep the 3rd one away from your regular grow space and wait a little while on the first one, but the second should be fine to go right now

Ok I'm on board with Twist & Pull! bare.whiterabbit :hatsoff:

The surface is pristine, not like some corporate clear cut with stumps.
However I  removed even the tiniest shroom, everybody on the same page!

Got the sub floating now. Pretty diverted from ShaperDreamer's submerge for 4 hrs.
Or your req for 24 hrs! OMG!
        :panic:

The difference with picking too, is you can take the finished fruits and leave most of the young ones to continue growing, rather than clear cutting your whole forest, before half of it is matured.

Everyone has different opinions and that's namely because, what each of us does works, just in different ways. We actually dig the idea of the float, but do shoe-boxes in a FC, so it doesn't really work, but in the case of monos, the float makes total sense, because you're not getting weird water all over the surface of your sub.

But for us weird water has yet to fuck us over, so we keep doing the 24hr weighted submerge to try and maximize water absorption for the next flush, but some will way that's not needed. Not sure if anyone has done any microscopic observation of the rate and capacity of myc cells to absorb and retain water during this part of the cycle, but would be interested to read that. Until then, we'll keep trying to give our flushes the best possible chance of putting off another big harvest, by providing as much moisture as possible.

It's not to say that any one way is wrong, because they do all work, it's just some people find some things works better for them in ways only they have seen. I am completely open to change, but also know we can obtain as good results from how we've been doing things for years, so we stick with them. Learning a whole new system is time consuming and we're old, impatient and on the verge of the abyss

The blue is just bruising. Looks a little dry in there and myc will bruise if touched or dried out too much. Would do a little more misting in the air over top and try get some humidity in there. You could also soak some perlite and put it on the bottom of the bag under the tinfoil pan to raise your humidity. Pinset looks good though, man.

Recognizing and dealing with contamination [Re: bare.whiterabbit]

Thanks for that bare. Ya I could have left the immature pins. Next time.
ShaperDreamer experimented with longer times for submerging.
The abyss, well I bet I'm the oldest one here, ha! LOL cough....

These jars were knocked up 6/3. They've been colonizing fairly consistently, but due to the moisture and what not- it has me wondering.

And finally, these jars were knocked up 6/15 with LC. Have a big feeling these are contaminated. Wanted to get a second opinion before burying it.

As before, any thoughts/advice would be appreciated.

Do these jars look ok? I'm a litte paranoid the lighter, grayer spots are mold of some sort? Or just wispy mycelium?

They're on spent grain from beer brewing, post-shake, hence all the bits stuck to the glass at the top.

First set good, second set baaaaad.

Chuck the second jar set man...LC must have had something in it.

Those first jars look good though. The excess moisutre shouldn't be a problem, but if it starts to turn brownish or yellowish, it could be bacteria keeping it from finishing.

Thanks Whiterabbit, I'll keep an eye out on the "good" jars for the colors you mentioned. Hopefully they fully colonize soon to birth.

And yeah, I had a feeling about the "bad" jars. I'll end up dumping the culture and burying those jars by a tree stump.

Appreciate you dude  a place like this is priceless for those wanting more knowledge in getting their feet wet in the hobby.
