So I’m pretty sure this is Penicillium in my tub. There is maybe one or two other dots like this.

I decided to increase FAE a bunch to try short the time to fruit.

It’s pretty early on but would it be worth it to just sterilize a knife or spoon and cut these little fuckers out? Will it matter?

I know in the OP it mentions that contam after spawning is uncommon and limited to uncolonized grain with pen.

Does this mean it could be the extent of it?

This is my 2nd attempt at a grow, first time using homemade jars. I decided to try both wheat berries (no rye available) and brf jars, spores from a trusted source (b+). My pressure cooker was only able to go about 75 minutes before I had to turn it off (didn't realize the steam nozzle was slowly letting moisture out, pc ran dry). I've been worried since injection that they might not have cooked all the way or might get contaminated. After 2 weeks, im finally seeing growth, but can anyone tell me if it looks like good growth?
BRF:

Wheat Berries (it is shaken up little to get the vermiculite at the bottom worked around)

Thanks for any advice, and if they look fine, ill sit back and let them grow.

Looks kinda like trich to me, but having a hard time seeing mycellium like growth. Maybe someone else will step in.

Here are a few more of the BRF jars. I wasn't able to get a better pic of the berries. The berries jar looks like a solid mass in the middle when i shake it up, and all the jars are growing from the center out

Contam Agar [Re: Kizzle]
    #26692190 - 05/24/20 11:26 AM (3 months, 24 days ago)

Sharing a few plates that are likely contaminated:

This one can resemble myc but is very thick and very slow to grow. I actually did a few transfers thinning this is myc. Some more expert advice lead me to believe it may be bacterial. Left it to grow out and it started to blue a bit.

Some strange growth in the next few pictures don’t look well. Going to toss and start over.

I’ve had some trouble with this one as it grows kind of like myc but is much fluffier. Beyond tometose and when left alone it’ll start to turn yellow / burnt orange.

Any thoughts?

This is a transfer of jalisco on MEA. Weird because all others turned out fine. Strange looking but still looks like myc. No other signs of contams.

Made 2 stacks of 10 of fucked up plates to try some spores which I brought in a rizla overseas from a print made while back but kept in foil and sealed up. first time working with agar so pretty terible condensation.

anyhow, can this be myc or its just bad.

dont have a decent camera, it is what it is, cant understand myself because it looks very hairy but at the same time quite white, myc like white.
I dont see any wider strands of hyphae.

I am just willing to learn agar and getting spores in my country is tricky.

gracias.

UPDATE

I made some transfers from a few of the plates (forgot to date, shit happens)
anyways this looks more like myc to me, gonna make some grains or wbs and make a transfer and give it a shot.
(my agar got burned in the pc, poured it anyways w/e)

Doesnt look that bad just rather keep separate away from any other grow.
as far as I can see there is slurry of metabloties on the top .

and there are a lot of knots.

you probably should have cleaned the walls of the tub too.

First time doing agar, and I've had mixed results so far. I think I have mold on a couple of plates, but wanted to get confirmation. Is this myc or mold? Pic is from below due to the condensation on the lid.

Are these aborts? What is happening here? Re: Recognizing and dealing with contamination [Re: Kizzle]
    #26701641 - 05/28/20 01:41 PM (3 months, 20 days ago)

Could the community say what we are seeing here in these photos? On this block, which is still on top of wet perlite and then a dry impermeable layer of tin foil on top of that.
These are said to be Albino A+ fruiting from it - there are black caps which according to information in this thread means there is some aborting happening? But also attention should be drawn to the off-white follicle-type growth on the stem of some of these as one can see in the photos.
There is also what appears to be a lot of discoloration for what should be pretty white Albino A+ strain.

The block is said to have been fruiting for a bit - for a few days or so in a dark area but is said to have also been brought out into indirect natural light to fruit for about 4-5 days so far. It has apparently been misted lightly periodically and the container fanned out slightly here and there to get air moving.

Hypothetically, should these be harvested now before further growth? Should they be left to fruit for a few more days? Is there anything danger that can be gleaned from the photos? Can there be a nice description of what's happening here given? Advice and feedback greatly appreciated by all it would seem - see photos. Dangerous growth, bacterial or otherwise seen here in the photos? (photos from random unknown source, questions asked for general educational purposes only)

Are these jars recoverable? [Re: Kizzle]
    #26702766 - 05/28/20 11:11 PM (3 months, 20 days ago)

I started these a week ago. 12 jars and every one looks like this.

Temp has been a little high at 85 degrees with humidity between 50-60%.

Do I have any chance of recovering them. Any help would be great.

Nah man, they do not look healthy. you should dispose of them safely.
mold permeated all of them.

Is this a contam risk because of the condensation?

Looks just slightly bacterial. Let it go for a few more days and spawn.

Re: Recognizing and dealing with contamination - Wetspot? [Re: Kizzle]
    #26711554 - 06/01/20 03:39 PM (3 months, 16 days ago)

Hi all, I inoculated two 5-grain spawn bags on 5/14. One is coming along nicely but the other has less mycelium and a foul smell, which I think is wetspot.
Despite the wetspot, the mycelium seems to be continuing to grow.
I've seen differing recommendations on whether to toss or just allow to continue.
What is the concensus on mycelium that grows in a wetspot environment? Should I let it continue to grow or throw it out?
Thanks

Here is the (smelly) bag

That's way too bacterial to work. Dump it.

Trich city, man...chuck them far away from your home base and bleach the hell out of them, then PC for at least a half hour open and upside-down with the lids to be sure.

First tubs, I'm thinking this is trich?  Can anyone confirm before I bury this in the garden?

Can you get a shot of inside? Looks really fuzzy and could be cobweb mold. Hard to tell when only seeing the flat underside of it. Humidity looks pretty high is why I'm guessing cob.
