Once trich goes green it’s sporulating. Isolate that stuff asap. I wouldn’t reuse your perlite either, although you can probably make it ok. Perlite is cheap, though, and I’d toss it.
I recently dealt with trich, although mine didn’t get to the green stage up top. If you were already pinning I’d say isolate and treat, but if you don’t already have some decent pins or fruits on the way… maybe bury these boys outside. Some older users recommend salt and iso for surface trich to slow it down, and that worked really well for me. It basically dissolved the stuff up top.
The problem with trich is that what you’re seeing isn’t all of it. It’s inside. So you can’t kill it or cut it off, only manage the surface.
Probably at this point I’d bury it and start another project.

Yup, anytime I see a cake starting to trich I wet a paper towel, drape, and pick whole thing up. You can make a spot outside to bury though and still be successful

And it’s worth noting that trich isn’t harmful. So if you bury it and it fruits anyway, those fruits are safe.

Right, burying it allows the myc to escape and do it's thing. Inside the trich is just too fast

So I have two cakes. Two holes? I live somewhere where it's averaging 100 degrees outside every day. Is there a point? Shade or no shade?
Can't lie. I'm so irritated. I had 20 jars and these were the only two I was even able to birth. So annoying. I was as sterile as possible. I wonder if the company I got the Jars from would reimburse me.
If I plant them somewhere where wildlife can access it am I going to have to deal with tripping racoons??

You’ll save money time and heartache making your own. It’s really really easy.

In the time that’s passed since I posted here it’s started looking like trich. The small bluing on the surface is going down the side of the tub, and I bet when I wake up tomorrow I’ll have trich on the surface

Howdy y’all. These are my first PF jars, prepped following the updated PF tek, and these particular jars are taking a while to colonize compared to the others I’ve started. No worries, of course, but I’m seeing some darker, maybe green spots, between the glass and myc. It’s hard to tell if it’s contam or if it’s pieces of darker verm getting pushed towards the jar. What do you think?
If it is contam, should I toss it, birth it early and remove the spots, or let it colonize and deal with it later? Any help is appreciated.

Hi, what is inside ? I am mostly sure it's contaminated as most others jars are. It's a jar that has been in PC and have shrink a lot. It is a month after incolutating with spore serynge and it seems weird. I think the water on the glass is condensation as the cake don't touch cause it's really shrink.

Hey everyone, would love to get your opinion on this grain bag. Inoculated on 5/25, took exactly a month to fully colonize (6/25). I've been waiting on substrate supplies so it's been sitting in a cabinet on top of my fridge all this time looking perfectly white and happy. I was worried I wouldn't be able to spawn it for a while so I put it in my fridge (in a clean trash bag loosely tied) on 7/4. I checked it the day after and noticed these spots on it from out of no where. I took it out of the fridge permanently and have it back in the cabinet waiting it out. It was fully colonized when these appeared and they have remained about the same for nearly a week. What are your thoughts? Throw it out or go ahead and give it a try? This is only my second time growing, first time trying grains. And my only bag so I'm crossing alllll the fingers but also learning a lot already (like be prepared next time!). Thanks so much everyone <3
