Yeah you could but i wouldn't recomened i, somties he contam has spread but you can't see it. If so you could get sick , COULd not for sure.

A friend always quarantined his slightly contaminated cakes and either branded them with a hot nail or manually removed the contamination with a hot knife. Results will vary. If he were you, he'd try to identify the type of contamination first. It may be harmful to breathe it or come in contact with it. If so, the best thing to do would be to spray the jar down with lysol and dispose of it immediately.

Cut off the contamination and case it in a shady spot outside. Mycelium is very resistant to contamination when outdoors. See my post on growing outdoors with rabbit dung in advanced. I used a cake that was 10% green mold and have immense fruiting with minimal effort.
