I would give you some of mine, not sure exactly local though. My company buys all my clothes for me... Boxes of socks. Hell yeah!

Meh, I'm not really interested in the different kinds of fabrics, there's way to many. Cotton, silk, wool, polyester, nylon, just to name a few. I was more curious about the different lengths people prefer.
My girlfriend wears short socks, below the ankle bone, while I prefer medium and long socks that cover the calf but below the knee. She ask me sometimes, "why do you wear such long socks?" And I never have a straight answer, just because I like long(er) socks.
Some people can't afford socks. To those who choose not to wear socks, I bet your feet are nice and hard and covered in callouses, which for some reason I admire. Though not pretty to look at, they are much more diverse, not having to watch their steps in fear of injuring their feet. With the invention of socks and shoes, peoples' feet have become soft and sensitive. Walking on gravel or hot earth with soft feet without saying "ouch" is something our ancestors would probably laugh at.
I knew a kid in high school that didn't wear shoes or socks while he was at home. Running around the yard bear foot, his feet were pretty tough. He would demonstrate by sticking a knife blade into the tough skin on his feet, never drawing blood.
When a soft foot gets wet or waterlogged, the skin will blister and open up, giving infection and all sorts of nasties right of passage to wreak havoc.
I like to think of Lieutenant Dan, "There are two rules in my platoon, take care of your feet, and don't do anything stupid, like get yourself killed."
But anywho, thanks for all your votes and replies. It will be interesting to see how this poll turns out in the future and to see what length of socks people prefer.

Anything more than an ankle sock is pointless unless you've got boots on.

Yeah my socks go to my ankle. The longer ones are really only needed during the winter. Otherwise it just looks stupid
Lacrosse bros love the high sock. IDK why, it makes em look like complete toolbags

Right above the ankle for me. I got like 30 pairs now. I usually buy socks once every year or two. Costs me really little, i think last time i got 36 pairs for like 28 or 30$.
I lose my socks alot. I think my drier eats them or something.

My little doggy likes to steal our socks. She thinks their toys. So we'll find socks in really weird places in my house
Once a sock starts to form a hole in it, I just throw em away
I can't believe some people have so few socks though lol. I have a ton

i wear knee socks of any kind with shorts a lot. usually either mens dress socks or skateboarding socks w graphics. or no socks

Long, usually over the knee - I wear a lot of knee high boots. Ankle socks also kind of bother me, though I'll wear them for 'athletic purposes' - aka whenever I wear my running shoes with shorts or yoga pants that don't cover my calves/ankles - cuz knee high socks look stupid with that kind of arrangement.
