THE COSMIC GAME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant say enough good things about this book think of my description as a recipe Take a bunch of VERY important spritual texts from long ago add the knowledge from 6000 psychedelic studies and 30000 breathwork studies(breathwork being a form of meditation) and a dash of quantum physics (my fav topic in the last couple of months) mix it all together and you have THE COSMIC GAME I feel SOOO strongly about this book I really want at least one of you to read it I am SURE you will love it I read ittwice and will one day buy it just to flip through it , re read certain sections and lend it to friends it reallly is that good!!! Peace Psilocybeing(we are all psilocybeingz......did you think meat and luck made us monkeys smart and thats all .....HA ..and spore survie space and they just "cam out of nowhere" the usual explanation about why you cant find old mushroom fossils is because they degrade to easy well worms and other soft body things can be found , but in the fossil record mushrooms show up quick and take over fast!

Acid Dream and Storming Heaven are close to being the same materials in each book but from a different perspecitive.
Storming heaven also covers three chapters on shrooms but is mostly about LSD.

How could I have forgotten to mention Doors of Perception and Heaven and Hell (both by Aldous Huxley)? Both are centered on mescaline but generally applicable to other entheogens. They're both very interesting and important in the history of psychedelics.

www.csp.org their entheogen chrestomathy has a vast quantity of works reviewed, with short excerpts www.thefane.org has a buncha links to variuos spiritual/psychic/psychedelic areas erowid & lycaeum have reviews of books & brief sketches of some folks who are prominent in the field... other websites (google 'em...): eleusis heffter foundation hofmann foundation island group alchemind (an online version of alan watts' _the joyous cosmology_ (the printed version has some amazing b&w pictures...) is still out there somewhere ( www.psychedelic-library.org has removed their html version at the request of dr. watts' literary estate (but they still have plenty of intersting stuff online!!!), but something like "acidmind" (i forget, but it is a musical group's website with several interesting pages...)) ~ c'mon folks, there's plenty more websites & books... of course, there are a few threads on this very topic here at the shroomery (s&p or arts or general or, i dunno...); utfse, mmm? anybody else?

Alexander Shulgin's PIHKaL and TIHKal are must haves for anyone interested in psychedelics. Shulgin is the chemist responsible for the 2-C's as well as over 200 other psychoactive substances.
Full text of PIHKaL
second half of TIHKaL
In his books he spends the first half talking about his life and interest in psychoactives. The second half of each book is filled with hundreds of phenylamines and tryptamines respectively, their chemical synthasis, and notes on different dose levels, or experience reports, for each substance.
