Blue Oyster
Oat Spawn, Aspen pet bedding, my 2.5 gallon bucket set up.
I cut 1.5 inch holes around the bucket with the idea that I can peel off the tape one or two at a time and get a long sustained harvest out of one container. I can pull off the top of the bucket and pour in water between flushes to rehydrate the substrate.

nice

is there a good tek for bucket oysters somewhere?

I don't know... I just made this one up. I had one run where I was too casual about keeping it clean and the bucket contaminated long before it got serious about fruiting. This time it looks good and clean. I'm going to monitor how much wet weight I get out of it and how long a cropping cycle (with staggered exposure of fruiting sites to FAE) and then make a tek.

However, I suppose I could start early and just document it as it goes along. For a quick note... I took a 2.5 gallon food grade bucket and used a hole saw to put four 1.5" holes evenly spaced about 2" up from the bottom and then another 4 holes about 3 inches from the top (alternate spacing from lower holes. I then taped those holes with duct tape. Then I used 2 half gallon jars of oat spawn and mixed it with aspen pet bedding that I had soaked in hot water (150-160) for a couple of hours (mostly for hydration because it comes very clean)... I used enough aspen pet bedding to fill the bucket to within about 3/4 of the top ... starting with about half full... then adding a half gallon of spawn... mixing well then add another half (slightly less ...) then mixing in the second half gallon. Seal up the top and ignore for two weeks or so then peel back a couple of tape flaps to see how the colonization is coming ( you can also pop the lid) when the tape covered holes are showing full colonization you can start introducing one or all the holes to FAE / Fruiting conditions. Make sure that the RH is high enough so  you don't dry up the Myc that is exposed.

Thanks I have a millet master of my first culture (B+) ready to go. I'm excited.
I barely got that B+ going, then I got a good culture from a clone of a fruit, then I took a GLC from a clean jar of that clone, then I made a regular LC from it and it sat for 10 months or so. I put some of it on agar with low expectations and it took off.. clean as a whistle so I dumped some agar wedges on the millet and we are ready to make some spawn... Yay!

B+ gets a bad rap but I like it a lot. I will be nice to get back to.

Started 7 jars Tampanensis today. First work I've done in a while. Thinking of throwing out a few of my older mini-mono's that have already put off a few flushes and trying to grow the other jar of tampanensis which is already fully colonized. I just bought some wood pellets, is there like a 50/50 tek with wood pellets for tampanensis or can I just use the 50/50 verm/coir like I have been using? I keep hearing a cube is a cube is a cube.

tampanensis aren't cubes. they are a different species. as far as I'm aware they are not woodlovers. I thought they were a grassland species? not too sure but verm/coir is fine but you want a higher ratio of verm than that. people use 60/40 or 70/30 the tek was written by Damion5050

AA+ is my old standby.  I'll always go back to it if I have trouble with the flavor of the month.

And yeah there is no 50/50 verm/coir tek.  That's a terrible ratio.  Lol@ a cube is a cube is a cube about tamps.

I'm a noob and that is why I was asking the question. I could spend some time and diagram it out for you how its faster for me to type 50/50 but that's a waste of my time.

So yeah, a cube is a cube refers to psilocybe cubensis, which is the standard mushroom we all grow almost always.

What you have isPsilocybe Tampanensis, a grass/dung loving species in the Mexicanae Species (recently reclassified) that would prefer to grow on manure much more than wood. Meaning wood is no good for our purposes, but if you decide to grow oysters or something you can use it for that! Check out Eats plastic bag oyster tek, Munch has been doing it with success

The wood loving actives are psilocybe cyanescens and ps azurescens

ignore the capitalization errors.

thank you for explaining this for him, I didn't want to type it out. I would have just linked him to the strain thread that explains it all

Thanks for the input. I actually got the pellets for reishi but thought I had another wood lovers out of the few I picked up. must have got the tamps confused with the cyanescens? I'm dyslexic and stay up to late studying stuff some times and get them mixed up. Also been looking forward to using the new plastic bags I got for sterilization. Need to remember to pickup manure next time I hit up home depot as I now have 7 jars going. what type of mix for manure and manure+what for the sub?

If you got pellets that's great for all sorts of edibles, I use them for everything.

The reason everyone is giving you shit about the coir/verm ratio is because the dude who made the tek's name is 5050 and there's a different tek which is a 50/50 so everybody gets that confused. The coir verm ratio is more like 80%coir 20% verm, if you think about it, one brick expands to 8-10q and then you are adding 2-4q of verm, clearly not 50/50.

I just bought whatever manure they had, it was the winter time so they were outside and frozen, clearly not the best selection. I got some Tamp fruits with it though. I used Eats EZ Oven Tek and supplemented about 20-40% manure.

I think that my preferred mix was 1 brick coir, 4q verm, 4q poo, that made enough for 2 tubs, or a million little ziploc containers

I'll post these like a whore. These were the fruits of my labor. Ended up with about an eighth over all, but lots of stones from lots of containers

It would have done so much better if I had cared for them and misted them every day and given them enough water, but I just couldn't care about them enough, there were too many little containers to care for and they just couldn't be misted enough. Had too many projects happening

Eats EZ Oven Tek is awesome. Had not seen it before but probably going to use it now that I know about it. I guess 5qt per monotub is the sweet spot to get full canopy tubs. Those results were fucking epic. I had been using 2qt for the large trays I was using inside my SGFC. Maybe I should have upped it a bit. I just felt like 2 jars was a lot for a the trey size. maybe I was wrong.
