Wait, what? I didn't even know there was a concentrate or whatever. I'm just talking about black currant juice. Give me a sec and I'll see if I can find a pic or something. But it was just a straight up juice. With the extract I wouldn't feel comfortable telling you how much to drink, you know? But if that's the way you went with it, then I would suggest starting very very small.

This is a pic of what I am talking about. But it says that it is made from concentrate. So honestly, if you buy the concentrate, then k would mix whatever amount of that concentrate says is a full serving of the fruit, and then take half to start out. In this pic(which is similar to what I was talking about) it says that 8oz has a full serving of the fruit. So with what's in the pic, or something similar, I would start with 4oz.

There is the link to the juice. I'm pretty sure you could find this in any grocery store. Or whole foods of not Just any one.

I've been growing for about 3 years now and always taped up the holes for colonization and it took around 10 days to colonize and at minimum another 10 days to see knots. Fruiting right away, the tub fully colonizes in 6-7 days and knots show within a week after that. It cuts a whole week off of the time you spawn till the time you harvest. I'll never go back to sealing tubs up during the colonization period

Were you fully sealing your tubs?  like covering them in saran wrap or something?  I tape my holes, but just put the lids on without anything fully sealing them so they can push out what air they need to and get just enough air exchange.  I usually have no problem colonizing in 6-8 days (depending on speed of strain, lol, those 2 newer tubs i posted earlier are about to be fully colonized in 4, nice and rhizo too), then after consolidating for 3-4 days, I start seeing knots by the time its ready for fruiting or within a day or two of putting into fruiting conditions.  The environment where I live, about 3-4 days into fruiting conditions, I end up having to mist/fan 1-2 times a day to maintain humidity/moisture content in my tubs.  Misting an un-colonized sub to maintain moisture levels sounds like a green nightmare waiting to happen, lol.

edit: reading through that thread Munchauzen linked to, definitely an interesting comparison.  I've always been of the mindset that cronicr states on the first page, but definitely intrigued with the results being seen.  Kind of need one or two runs to pull through, so I'm going to keep doing things the way I know works, but might try a little experimenting on the next round or two.  It seems like quite a bit less prep for a number of reasons.

I've started casing and fruiting at spawning with nothing but success also. Just be sure to keep an eye that you've got things dialed right, and you can get some surprising results. :mushroom2:

If you're honestly getting those speeds then I wouldn't change anything. My most aggressive culture would knot up faithfully 10 days from spawn, I could bank on it everyrime. Since I've been fruiting right away, that same culture will be pinning within that 10 days. I've seen nothing except improvement time wise.

Those are the first stones I've seen that I thought I might actually eat... generally I look at stones and think... "you eat THAT shit?!"
Those kind of look like almonds or some kind of shelled nut. Nicely done.

What culture is that... ATL7?

Yeah second that , I inoculated some BRF/ with coffee, cakes with an ATL#7 syringe last week haven't checked yet , not expecting more than 3-5 grams wet from each half pint jar just looking to get a few prints or agar cultures going to preserve in the fridge
