I don't think this is the place you want to ask if you're looking for unbias results. I'd have to guess most of us here don't represent the status quo very well

I wear button ups with undershirts only when going out to dinner, picking up chicks or dress real nice for jobs. I love how tshirts feel so comfy and I don't think that should be condemnable.
Where would I ask that isn't wierd and unbiased?

I think Eminem wore a hanes t-shirt for like 10 straight years.
Hell I think the dude sported a plain white tee to the damn Grammys.
Although I guess you can do that when you've sold like a billion albums or whatever.

No one "told me" just imagine a classy chick has to choose one guy or the other to be with .Between a dude with long hair and a tshirt or the guy with a professional haircut and a nice suit or a stylish button up. Who would she choose if she never met you?
Idk idgaf I love tshirts so I wear tshirts except in the context I mentioned.
I agree people shouldn't judge on looks but they do all the time. Even the ones who say they don't.

I wear t-shirts, but not at work, only casually. At one point in my life I swore I'd never wear a tie to work, but now I feel under dressed if I don't.

I had this conversation with my nephew a while ago. It bothers me he is growing up in a world where people measure worth by their level of acceptance. Not everything is okay, people are fucked up out there and very few of them will truly be your friend. How many times have you heard someone say that their group of friends makes it hard to quit a substance? As much as I sympathize with that situation, that is juvenile. Yes, placing blame on one's self is always paramount, but after all there is a reason we have the saying, "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me." That is a lot more than about trust. Judging others is how we base our own opinions of ourselves, people are the measuring stick but we are supposed to be the high mark. If you can't judge others than you will never freely judge yourself, and without that you will never grow, never learn anything, and be stuck in an endless loop of need because of that acceptance. Judging others is the most adult thing one can do. I am my own understanding.

I mean I can understand wanting to wear something nicer when going to a social event or work. Tshirt bashers, what do you wear when you're sitting around your house or need to run to the store? A fucking button up? Tie?
Tshirts that fit good are amazing.

Went to a meeting the other month wearing a t shirt, everyone else was wearing one as well. Big meeting in terms of the people that went, CTO for a household name company, a lead electrical engineer, definitely the modern American definition of "adults."
Sounds like the people that told you wearing a t-shirt isn't "adult" enough take themselves too seriously.
