Lets discuss great Pacific garbage patch for a minute...

So, we all know that we pollute everything we touch. It all ends up somewhere, aka, the ocean.
This Pacific patch (one of 5) is the size of almost Texas or more
Here's a video to put some perspective
So my question.
How the fuck are we gonna clean this shit up? We're gonna have to at some point. The anti-environmentalist group will die of old age soon so it'll finally become politically acceptable to clean up the mess we are making on this planet.
Ideas? Theories? Wild conceptual ideas that could maybe work?
Discuss.

There are too many people on Earth that are making too much trash. Even if we could clean it up, it would probably just form again in a year or two.

I thought some kid already put out a patent and was getting corporate funding to fix it. They are going to string up some big fucking nets around one side of the ocean gyre and have a couple boats go up and down the net to collect the plastic.
They would probably set up a big recycling center on an American territory island and melt the shit into docks, boats or roofs for Africa or some shit. Or Genetically engineer some microbes that can eat the shit in big tanks.

It's gonna have to be something constant that always filters like 1% more than what we throw out.

The EPA was only started like 50 years ago and has done an amazing job cleaning up the Superfund sites in the USA. Some of the most toxic places in the USA have been substantially cleaned up the past decades. National Geographic had an awesome article about it last year, but I don't have a copy laying around. I think its like 1/3 of all americans live with 3 miles of Superfund cleanup site. Its a crazy huge proportion.
A garbage patch isn't that big of problem.

We need to figure out a way to cast nets 100 km wide, the will capture the crap with interefering with sea life.
Paradoxal proposition.
Is it possible?

Here is a 3 part Vice Documentary about the plastic in the Pacific Ocean. There is a team of people who go out on a boat for weeks/months and throw out nets to collect all the plastic in the ocean and then they do sample tests of it.
It's kind of alarming when you actually see how much plastic that will never break down is in the water.

Go humans! I'm not sarcastic. I do think we will survive our fuck ups, and we are better then the natural world
The annoying things are the 'animals were here first' crowd
Fuck it's the most annoying thing First I'll return my land to the Indians, then they can give it to the squirells or something. I literally hear this, consistently
I hope, once the garbage is cleaned up, I hear less of that.
