With little Mexican species stay away from organic mixes and you're gold.

Damn Bro that Alberto is gorgeous :inlove3:

So Astros do really well in pure rock? How much does it slow down their growth? I have a few Astro seedlings that will need a repot soon.

Those have grown since they germinated in rock. They seem to do very well in it and one is already developing a little hair mohawk which means either this year or next they should flower. The Lophophora not so much. They grow but a little more slower.

The new additions to the stone eater family.

They are deep in the rock. I may hAve gone a little too deep. I am hoping that I did not make a mistake placing them that deep. Now I wonder upon seeing the pictures. :hmm:

Thanks man. I didn't want to go too deep but have you seen habitat photos? Only the too shows. It would be sweet to get a flower as my other baby has been flowering profusely.

I'm finding that some seeds and cuttings take root, in moist riverbed sand, which seems to have been washed very thoroughly, and that makes me wonder whether they are also stone eaters.

Yes, I have some habitat pics in one of my references.  They do bury themselves quite deeply, about like you have done.

how big is the bigger one? 2.5 cm - 3 cm? Man, how long till they got that size?

I gotta get me some seeds. But I've spent too much $$ on the collection, I'm going to grow and sell some trichs and make the hobby pay for the seeds. I don't want to get to the point where my wife has to stop me.

Did you seed grow them? How long does it take these plants to reach their roots into the rocks?

They were a gift from a friend. Its a highly coveted species. I reckon they are many many years old. They grow pretty slow.
