? about substrate, please help!
    #2307116 - 02/06/04 12:17 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

I read on how to prepare the inoculation jars, and it said, 2/3 cup
vermaculite, 1/4 cup water, 1/4 brown flour. well after i already did all that i read somewhere else at Fungifun.com that those measurements were wrong.

Do those measurements sound ok?

also i didnt have a pc, or tinfoil, so i boiled them in a pot with a lid on it for an hour and a half. i put extra lids on top of the jars to stop water from leaking in.

with those couple of mistakes do you think i could still grow, or should i just re du the jars?

any info is appreciated!!

The official update on the original puts it at:
1/2 cup verm
1/4 cup H2O
1/4 cup BRF

To be honest though, if I remember correctly I was using the formula you quoted for a long time with out any real issues. That was years ago though, and I've got some serious mental clutter.

Anyway, your only concern is water content. If the substrate it too dry you'll have slow or no growth. If you have to inoculate to spare I'd say hit 'em with it. Of course, you could always sacrifice a jar, open it, and make sure the substrate is still moist.

Oh yeah, UTFSE.

Alright i one jar to spair so i took the lid off and checked the cake for moistness, well im not sure how moist its suppose to be. it was very sticky and crumbly, does that sound alright?

i should be getting my syringe in the mail today, and i was really looking forward to inoculating.

Yes that all sounds good to me You shoud be fine if it dose end up being to dry this is what you can do, boil some water to steriles it and suck it up in the syringe then soot it out and do it again to make shur that the syringe it steril and then shoot it in to the jars ,add as much water as you think you need make shur that the water in the syring is cooled off befor you do any thing and you shoud be ok . You can also dunk in some h20 and h202 when its time to birth the cake . Let us now how the grow goes, and hope all this info helps you .
