Motorcycle Question

Heya Peeps,
Anyone out there knowledgeable about motorcycles, I'd appreciate your help.
Question: what bikes are considered to be the worst on the market? I've heard the term "Rice Rocket" thrown around--is that to say that a "Jap Bike" is a _bad_ bike? What is looked down upon as being a low-end bike; the "Dodge Dart" of the motorcycle world?
Which bikes tend to break down the most, and have the most mechanical problems? Which are the worst engineered?
Thx,

WOOOOHOOOO!!
I've been waiting for this day. There's like, 1 other biker on the Shroomery. And it's real special talking bikes when you're a biker. They're my greatest (material) passion in this world.
In answer to your question, it's very simple - the worst bikes are the ones by the rarely heard brand names. Often Chinese. Absolute shite, an ex-colleague had one and half the shops he took it to refused to work on it. Let me find some examples..
Lexmoto, Zontes, Sinnis
If you want a decent bike, and probably the most reliable and reasonably priced, look no further than Honda. I've had... 6 of them now. Compared to my European bikes (a Husaberg & Ducati) they're just so wonderfully simple in their layout, construction, availability of parts, quality of design, and ease of use and easiness to work on.
I don't know what it's like in regards to licensing where you are, but go 125 if you must for a first bike, although 4/600 is better.
Feel free to ask any more questions brother, I can talk about bikes all day.

Stay away from anything Chinese. Japan makes good bikes... Honda, kawasaki, suzuki, and yamaha all make good bikes of similar quality
Rice rocket is just a term for 4 cylinder high power jap sport bikes, the most common sizes are 600cc and 1000cc. If it's your first bike, don't get one they are stupid fast. Like 100-200hp in a a 400lb package fast.

125CC for starter? That seems a little light, with that you can't even keep up on the highway. I would go for a 250cc at least. I don't even think they make a lot of 125cc bikes.

That's cause you're in the States, and why I mentioned the licensing issue which may or may not exist where OP is. There is a HUGE market for 125's in the UK, as the growing test restrictions make it untenable for new riders to ride anything bigger.
Hence, '4/600 is better'.

185hp, 185kg wet. Power to weight ratio nearly twice that of a Bugatti Veyron:

It's INSANELY fast. Every other vehicle I have owned I have, after some time, been able to master. Not this fucker. It consistently blows my mind when I ride it. This bike is better than I will ever be.

Honda is quality shit. Yamaha is quality shit. Suzuki makes some dope bikes. Triumph makes some hella dope bikes.
I'm partial to Harley and Triumph for road bikes. Honda and Yamaha for off road bikes. Triumph makes a hell of a good dual sport.

I don't dig 'em, but there seems to be a huge market for them. I think they're capitalising on older guys who rode in their youth. Massively prefer my Duc:

I do a yearly test ride thing where I take a day off work when the weather starts to warm and go and test ride all the latest models (it's so easy, could never walk into a Ferrari dealership and get a test, but can ride all the hottest bikes) so will try a Scrambler this year. I'm sure the sound will be great, like all Ducati's, but the ride/handling is gonna have to be pretty special for it to live up to the hype..

That's pretty succinct. A colleague had a Harley for 13 years in Greece. Said it was like riding on a dildo the way it got women excited. Honda = reliability, definitely. Wish I had the money for a new BMW GS 1200 Adventure. Those things are the shit. I aint a huge fan of the boxer engine (have ridden one) but they're sure as fuck the machine to tackle pretty much any terrain.
