well like, if you like something about something enough, you want it to keep going, right?
Pick something you love and clone it, so you can try and stabilize and keep getting what you want? Make sense?
Sorry, i'm a bit... inebriated if it doesn't make sense. But it will.

interesting. yea so far a couple of my other golden teacher treys didn't turn out as good as my other ones but I think it had to do with being to far away from the light I was using. Just testing stuff out seeing what works though so not super surprised.

Big and a cluster, here's a first one I took, the staining size and it being a cluster makes me think it will be promising! What tiger said tho, clusters.

The biggest one in the middle of pic above after it was cloned. Will hopefully carry the big, the cluster and the potency (by looks of staining)

Hope this helps

Lol dude you can't tell potency by color. I know people shout about bluing being oxidating psilocin or something but no one does that anymore.  Your babies are a work of art. Let them sit pretty for us

Lmao always thought there was a conection. Azzies and cyans I pick turn black cause they stain so damn dark, cubes tend not to in the little experience growing them i have or getting a bag from a friend or whatever. And I wasn't trying to say they were potent, was trying to say that's the only indication I had of them being somewhat good:thumbup: I don't doubt you tho! Regardless just trying to help him understand(:

If you rough up a shroom enough it will blue hard. If you really want to try to use bluing as a judge of potency I would cut at the stem quickly and smoothly and use the bluing at the stump as a sort of 'potency strip' but even that is purely speculative. There must be a connection to bluing and potency but I don't think it's completely understood yet.

I don't even know what flush this is. There has been at least 4-5 good flushes from these trays been in fruit for like a month or so

I also just spawned some PE to a few different containers!

That is really common to have a lot of flushes this time of year. Spore counts are lower in winter and temperatures are more moderate. This leads to colder growing conditions outside of the temperatures where molds and bacteria thrive.

Don't be surprised if you start seeing bulk subs contam quicker in the next two months.

Completely agree, I don't think it's a clear indication of its potency. Cause even though this thing turned black I can guarantee, it being a cube doesn't stand a chance against the wilds we find around here which will stain in that same very fashion. You said it right tho, speculative   it's all I got to go off without some crazy machine to test it hahah

Crap, I just thought I dialed in my new steam pasteurizer is why I haven't seen green in months, what you said really makes sense.

Psilocin blues and is indicative of oxidation (via water and air) but afaik, Psilocybin is less prone to oxidation in this manner as it is a more stable chemical. Psilocybin metabolizes into psilocin in your body anyway. So yes you are losing potency but in certain circumstances there's nothing you can do (e.g., wild pickings already blue when you get home). Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm baked and tired.

...and just in case any of you make it out picking in the PNW, there's a blue bruising species Stropharia Pseudocyanea. Sometimes they even grow blue right out of the ground. There is also a blue bruising Mycena (amicta?) species. The Pseudocyanea needs DNA sequencing and other tests run; it is likely inactive but the jury is still out on that one. Afaik, neither species has come to a conclusion one way or another, but a lot of Mycena species have muscarine.

Sometimes they look like boletes when they begin to grow. I've found them in W Oregon coast up to the Canadian border. They are more blue the further north you go. Sometimes they start out brown when they pop out of the soil and as they enter maturity they turn white then white with blue. Just a heads up, I'm sorry if it's off topic, I'd hate to see someone eat a blue mycena going off of perceived psiloc(yb)in oxidation and subsequent bruising. Unsure if pseudocyanea is toxic, and I'd bet dollars to donuts the mycena likely is.

Stropharia Pseudocyanea.

Both grow in coastal pine areas. Pictured above is a specimen growing in dune grass which Alan Rockefeller says is undocumented.

Just be careful going out picking. I know you folks prefer Psilocybe Cubensis for the majority of your work but just putting that out there for harm reduction and search engine purposes.

This is true! iv found em in every size and color around here. I wonder what the chemical is that's making them stain? Important to really check gills when picking wild actives, I think what stamets said was if it has purple/brown spore print, give it a shot lol but I'd hope someone would have an experienced eye for it, before u go chomping down something, your not positive on lol

What about when you have mushrooms that don't bruise at all and still melt your face off?

tons of mushrooms produce dyes which can be extracted and used in the textile industry. cubes are no different, and produce blue pigments that you can definitely use as a dye. it has no relationship to active ingredients, its just natural pigments.

Got a huge photo dump, maybe I'll organize it a bit later.
I was busy last night. Two full trays of syzygy harvested after like 3 weeks or so of growing

Definitely some upskirts. Managed to get 2 prints

The mushroom could still be high in psilocybin, which does not
bruise, and low in psilocin which is why it didnt blue much but still
blew your mind.

This is all speculation of course
