Well I just went into my phone to check on the date of those pictures and it says they were taken in December...but I thought I picked those in the Fall because I remember picking some and not taking pics and that was probably in Sept or October...
But you can definitely see the bruising on the mushrooms and Mycelium...ive actually brought some wood back home and ive got a lil patch colonizing, ill let you guys know when they fruit..I remember reading somewhere that these are actually pretty potent for a Gymnopilus species.  :shrug: all I know is ive got a special spot where they fruit like its 1999 :grin:

Yes the few flood plains I know contain wild patches deffiently make you work for them. You literally have to be on hands and knees combing threw the grass. Which sucks because as you see its covered with stinging nettles.

@stevo-
Yes I've been trying to hand/ open air isolate strong growth.
I didn't begin with nice strong growth so that's why my 5yr wait took place.
I put spawn outside and it didn't fruit so I would dig up healthy rhizo wood and keep expanding it further.
In quite a bit north and our morels are just beginning to die from daily bursts of heat and humidity. We still have very big temp drops at night too.
My oldest land spot has the pins in a disturbed area mice keep tunneling thru.
Took 3yrs with bed made waiting for this day
:awedance: :smile: :sunshine:

I think our temps this north just got ideal for them.
Gyms should pop here any time or with next hot humid rains.
Ovoids are a early bird and DAMN in stoked to see a summer fruiter too :smile:

Plus we may have weird kind of knotweed, compared to you guys in ovoid lands, and our knotweed just blew up. Literally fast. Our trees were half bare of leaves a week ago/ now they are fully greened up. Seems like good timing to associate spring voids with morel season. They seem to like our hot days and cool nights still.

tried this species for the first time on sunday.  was astounded at the difference in comparison to cubes (not just the difference in strength).

very different, very nice.

ETA: oh, and the yawning...whats up with that?!?  yawned nearly constantly for about an hour when half way through the experience.
