I love espressos. I have a nespresso machine at home and I only drink espressos nowadays, not regular coffee. They are so yummy, especially with honey.
Do you drink regular coffee or do you prefer espressos?
Espressos are just awesome.

I prefer regular coffee. Someone who was a barista told me that espresso actually has less caffeine than a cup of coffee. Not sure if it's true or not, have never checked. Pretty much turned me off of the idea of espresso though.

Were they talking about comparing two cups of the same size, or comparing a cup of coffee to a "shot" of espresso? I suspect it's probably the latter.
I always make espresso at home. I think the machine was $10 at a thrift store, it's not a high end one. The container for it is marked as being 4 servings but I drink the whole thing in one cup.

I only drink espressos. Actually latte's, but they are made with espresso. I don't even like regular coffee and have never drank a cup. It's too much water and I like my drugs as pure as possible within reason. Same thing with hot cocoa, its too much water and not creamy enough. The machine I use is only a $25 used ebay machine. I might get a better one one day but for now it makes a pretty good shot.

Whichever is strongest depends on each individual batch/beans, and entirely on how much is used for a given cup. The only real difference is the flavor, espresso and coffee made from the same bean at different grinds and preparation will taste pretty different.

I love espresso though I don't drink it often. The very dark roast they use (darkest of all in fact) kills off some of the caffeine. While espresso has much more by volume a double is probably on the order of a smallish cup of normal coffee. Obviously such numbers vary wildly by bean, roast, concentration etc., but the main point is that espresso is not crazily above coffee in terms of caffeine.
Subjectively, and it is probably just me, the caffeine buzz from espresso feels like it jumps on me much faster and is in general just better. However it feels less jangly (for lack of a better word) to me personally. I doubt there is much to this beyond my own perception but it is consistently the case for me.
When I do grab espresso it is always a double, sometimes a quad. Even a quad (by itself) doesn't really do me any differently than a 12 ounce coffee. I used to drink a lot of coffee of all types though past 40, a couple of cups a day is what I try to limit myself to - one cup in the morning usually, maybe another later, on rare days 3 or 4 over the course of the day. I don't like to face mornings without coffee that is for sure.

7-8 shots of espresso when I work my night shifts. I rarely have caffeine outside of work.

Turkish coffee with sugar for regular work material.
If I intend to do physical and endurance training I will add Kratom and Ephedra to the Turkish for added effects.

Its true, one shot has less caffeine.
Americano is very high in caffeine if that's what you're after.
Personally I hate the taste of coffee and I drive k match a green tea if I want caffeine. You can actually make match a tea that is way stronger than coffee.
