"what if we started a competition based on compassion or humility?"

I'll choose humility.

I have one testicle.

"I am the serenest!" Bikram shouted to the estimated crowd of 20,000 yoga fans, vigorously pumping his fists. "No one is serener than Sri Dhananjai Bikram?I am the greatest monk of all time!"

:nonono: Not good. Yoga is *not* competitive like some kind of a sport. I am very sad to see this.

Also, the Pranayama (breath control) is very powerfull and should never (ever)be practiced as a competition and is not a measurement of how serene one is.

/me sad  :crying:

I'm more humble than you.
I'm more spiritual than you.
or even
I'm less competative than you.
what can you do when people do this?

(When WE do this, cuz I think we are all guilty sometimes.maybe.)

If you believe in karma and that people will
reap what they sew
then you can......realize that you don't need to DO anything.

'Enlightenment'/ true happiness/ balance really seems to me to be 'the path of least resistance' in the long run, thank goodness

That was funny, too. Had to read parts of it to someone I know. I looked around and found this one:

We've talked about Christians killing in the name of "God". Read this one:

--------------------
Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.---senior doobie

is there any way not to be involved in some kind of one-upmanship?
"i am less/worse of a one-upman than you"
or "my pride in my humility is worse than yours" or
"i realize more clearly than you that everything we do is one-upmanship"
The ego trick seems to reaffirm itself endlessly in posture after posture...BUT as i pursue these games-as i become more conscious of being conscious, more aware that i am unable to define myself as being up without you (or something other than myslef) being down---i see vivily that i depend on you being down for my being up.
any generic ingroup depends on any generic outgroup....but i define myself interms of you.
All winners need losers; all saints need sinners; all sages need fools; that is, so long as the major kick in life is to "amount to something" as a particular and seperate godlet...people, WE ARE ONE...peace n love

--------------------
if you can't find the truth right where you are, where else do you expect to find it?

this is the purpose
