why does it seem i'm going to get about a gram dry per cake? when others i see get 7 grams dy?? whats causing this huge difference in yeilds?

could be any number of things.
sterilization methods, incubation conditions, fruiting conditions, dunks, roll in moist verm, etc...etc...etc...

I doubt sterilization has anything to do with it....as long as the cake is contam free

what was meant by that is the amount of time the said cakes were sterilized.
IMO, a cake cooked @15psi for 45mins-60mins will have a much better moisture content than cakes cooked useing the 90min steaming method.
i may be completly wrong, but longer cooking = loosing some of the moisture allready in the cake.

That's why I dunk before birth everytime. Doesn't matter how much moisture was lost during steaming/incubation, full saturation is always achieved. I was having horrible first flushes until I start practicing this. I would definately recommend dunking if you haven't already beanchild. I haven't been able to master perfect moisture content when making substrate so dunking has been a great remedy for me.

If you do your job right you dont have to dunk. i never dunk before first flush and have great results. dunking is what you do if a plan fails. Neither one of these cakes were dunked. double end case and you get more than enough moisture to your cakes. Dunking increases stress and contam risk. IMHO

no way, use spring water, add a dab of h2o2, and you wont have shit for contams, if you dunked, AND double end case/roll in verm, you will only benefit, imo
