Check out this technique for setting up your fruiting chamber: Basic Principles of the Shotgun Fruiting Chamber (SGFC)
Also, I always try to steer new people away from buying pre-made sub jars. Hopefully they're from a reliable source is all I can say. In the future, know that it's relatively cheap and you can make them yourself without the need for a pressure cooker. That method is known as PF Tek. Check out the vid below for instruction in regards to that. Good luck!

Friday April 1st: Inoculated jars -attempted to make a glove box, in the heat of the moment I realized I couldn't see as well as I thought I could through the plastic. SO...I pulled each jar out, inoculated it and put it back inside as I am using it as a incubator. -Ordered jars from MW a reliable source but my only concern was I did not see a noticeable top layer of verm on the top? The whole jar seemed to be of the same consistency...
Sterile Techniques: -Cleaned room and bombed with Lysol -wiped everything in my room and my "glove box" with Clorox wipes -wore rubber gloves -Used alcohol pad that came with spores to wiper after every injection hole -laid glovebox on a towel and sprayed with Lysol -tried not to breathe lol -had a helper with sterile gloves hold syringe every time I needed two hands
Temperature: 80 degrees -window open if heat gets above 80. I live in the peak of the house and its starting to get warm out.
If anyone see's anything that stands out that has to be fixed, feel free to lend some advice. I left two holes in the glove box/incubator and plan on letting some air in daily.

Don't stress , I usually check like 3 times a week max and more frequently as the colonisation gets towards the end... Can take up to 7 days to see anything.

You'll see faster growth if you just take the lids off the jars man , the dry barrier of Vermiculite is all you need

whoa. simple holes in the lid allow GE. the dry verm layer is nice and all but its still not 100%

Lol just a suggestion.. unless your living in utter filth the dry Vermiculite barrier will keep anything out , I never have my jars with lids on they are stored in a large plastic tote or a cardboard box , have had 2 / 40 jars contaminated... Your choice just my 2c worth and also I get full colonisation from MS in 20 ish days..

Nice man. I guess I just go with the tried and true. Although I do have 1 jar going without a lid as it is a glass. I was gonna try to do something neat with a no lid scenario, but I will have to test a few things before I try it.

What if you plant a seed after the mycelium kicks off. this could possibly prevent bacterias as the plant and the mycelium may build a symbiotic relationship. Or it could make a contamn. Only one way to find out!
Fresh air + dry verm layer + somewhat colonized mycelium + seed + sunlight = win?
Let them take off then place the plant into soil and the mycelium starts holding everything together like it does in nature. You could probably plant an elm tree with morel mycelium and do those inside this way. And when it gets to big for inside its time for it to go outside. You would almost want a room that fluctuates temperature to match the outdoor temp as to not shock the mycelium and the tree when it goes outside. I think I will try this and post it in a different thread. Once morels pop up here I will post results

I agree, I wouldn't trust the dry verm barrier on it's own even with lids with holes. The only time I used cakes I used micropore tape as a precaution.
Taking off lids is a great way to dry your cakes. I'm not saying you should stop doing it but reccomending it to newbies is not nice IMO.

Kangaroo manure.
No surprise there ain't no teks/grow logs here that uses that.
I will most definitely watch any grow made with roo manure. I love novelty shit. No pun intended.
