Yes, I'm confirming your suspicion. Yes. Although don't be too hasty on overlooking some miniscule sterility procedure that will end up causing the whole experiment/operation to end up yielding a giant ball of yellow-brown oozing contamination.

Sigh.

In a sterile environment you could extract a piece of healthy mycelium from your existing culture and transfer it to the old jars. This way you are not wasting any more spores. Your best bet is to start with new jars. There is probably a reason why they didn't germinate to begin with. They could have some kind of contam that is preventing germination or an improper water content or any other thing that can go wrong with substrates. To get the best results, you should start over.
