I feel compelled to bring this up.
    #2302229 - 02/04/04 08:53 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

What do you think would happen if the entire world had a BIG mushroom/LSD trip at the same time?

I often choose that scenario as one of my would-be wishes if I were offered three wishes from a Genie.

Um, where to begin? Hundreds of thousands would die in car wrecks; toddlers would drown in backyard pools; radio stations would play The Grateful Dead nonstop, Bush would admit he lied about WMD...

The proof is in the pudding.

Maybe he meant we would listen to "The Fifth Dimension". You know, "Dawning of the Age of Aquarius"...

Swami:

No offense, but people will die. Do you think 10 years after such an event happened it was beneficial to positive progression or a needless event that lead us to the same place where we were before?

I value your comments more than you'll know, and yes I have thought that people would die from such an event...and it is horrible (I have felt those heavy negative feelings of losing someone whom you are close to). But, I believe the good would far outweigh the bad in this situation. Instead of stating the obvious facts, I'm interested to hear how your imagination weaves.

HAHAHAHA:

I believe such an event would lead to a breakdown of the political infrastructure, an opening of borders as we drop our weapons and embrace humanity.

Easy there, Swami...

You've felt it your entire life.

Like a splinter in your mind...
Driving you mad.

I am not going to state the obvious. Of course people will die. However, I am going to use my personal experiences to answer. I believe people's minds will open. New ideas and friends will be made. People will see the world for what it is, a beautiful gift and perhaps treat her a little better. We will all know that in the grand scheme of things, we are all tiny and insignificant; but we will realize that it is better to be tiny and insignificant together rather than apart.

Dude, I'm gonna spiffy up your Avatar for you...if that's cool with you. It's a cool design that I like alot. But your avatar needs a lil 'something'. Unless you prefer a plain white background and all.

You can ask Shroomism if I'm 'any good'.

I'm outta here for the night. Peace yall.

Well the black and white have meaning in that avatar picture.

That is an old family crest that I've graciously borrowed. I interpret its meaning to form a union of mind, body, and soul circling around its source.

If you wish to make a graphic for me out of your own generosity than that would be great  Thank you very much!

Peace

Note to Moderators: I need to start a Swami FAQ so I don't have to rehash old material...

As a member of the "Woodstock Generation", I heard some great music and it was a time of openess, yet where did the millions of LSD trips lead to? Other than the end of the Viet Nam War (a good thing IMHO), I am not sure that anyone can point to positive societal changes.

Our society is more violent and paranoid than ever before. No one could have imagined metal detectors in schools 30 years ago.

I think that for entheogens to have societal impact (as much as one who breaks all the rules hates to admit), they need to be used within a predetermined framework to give the trip some cohesion and focus. That is why organizations such as Santo Daime have positive results whereas generic raves just turn into a party with no paradigm shift.

The proof is in the pudding.

It should also be noted that (though I COULD be wrong here) only a small fraction of the population have acutally used LSD before...and I would be willing to bet it was no different for the "Woodstock Generation" even if the % for that generation is much higher than any other.

Yes, but if there was no noticeable effect from millions, there is no reason to believe billions would make it any different unless there was some common point of reference; i.e. a universal reason for this world-wide trip.

Hell, I have heard negative reports from one of the shroomery gatherings where people were fairly closeknit, yet still major frictions arose. People are still people and still have issues no matter what they imbibe.

Sorry, but there are no quick solutions. The city of New York (and elsewhere) pulled together after 911, now things are pretty much back to status quo as far as interpersonal relations.

Swami,
This is why your logic is so necessary. You are so right. But think about this now...everyone is tripping. The trip gradually gets stronger and stronger. It isnt instant; for mental preparation of the peak.

Tell me what you think would happen to the population as a whole.

I didn't mean to imply that it would work...just that perhaps not enough people did for it to work

I, too, do not think that it would have any benefit in any case unless it was done with the proper preparation and with the proper intentions going into the trip.

No, there are no quick solutions.
