Got another 9 yards over the weekend, this time it's Douglas fir. Will be spreading the remainder of my Cyan mycelium with this load, I'm starting to get tired of all this work lol
18 gallon tote, maybe 10-11 gallons of colonized woodchips
Made this for fun

Let me no how that D Fir works for you. My Cyan's don't take to it as readily or as fast as desidious woods up in whatcom. I mean they will eventualy but for sure prefer maple and alder which is what i try to stick with for that reason. Super size grow brother.

I admire your tenacity. Can't wait to see the first fruits of all this labor. Awesome carving too

I just found this online "Douglas fir can be used after a three to four month-outdoor fermentation process during which the phenol compounds are dissipated." Maybe I should spread the mycelium to the Douglas fur after this fall just to play it safe. I didn't think about letting it ferment first, makes sense, I have plenty of other kinds of woodchips till then

Ya, conifers can have quite a few volatile compounds.
Good luck on that massive project!

Remember that compost pile? Looking good!!

I cant wait to see pics in the fall/winter of those large beds you guys are working. What a fun hobby, isn't it?
Im going to add my last bag(about 6 quarts)of colonized mulch with some more scotts mulch(between 5-7 gallons) and start a new patch 2'x2' of Psilocybe Cyanescens tomorrow. It might be a little late in the year to start it but i have one that i started a month ago. Hopefully we will see mushrooms in november.
I did it last year, so we will see what happens.

Yea Cigam you just start flushing when were done plucking. Besides, the mushrooms and you run shit. Theres no telling when something is to late or not late enough. go for it. You could also go smaller shallower this year until you've got some established spots. Just keep in mind bigger spots take longer to colonize. Bonsi pots work well also then next year each pot is a patch you set free. Just some ideas. My spots at home are pretty much just giant spawn beds I keep dipping in and distributing. Spread the love. I think Lake Chabot In the East Bay would have some habitat suited for some woodlovers. Makes me think of fishing for planted trout with marshmellows.

Wow...truly go big or go home...tried that once with marijuana and the police took me down hard...good thing they can't nab people for mushies that grow naturally in the surrounding area. This post is nuts. All the labor intensive work and thinking that has gone into this is very impressive. Definitely gonna keep looking at this thread.
