Hey all! My cyan patches had a good run this season, I ended up with better results than I ever could have hoped for! The cyans are now done for the season, they didn't enjoy the 4" of snow we had last week. I highly suggest anyone who hunts on a regular basis to start up a couple patches of your own, was just as easy if not more than cubensis.

You probably isolated a bit of trich. It turns from white to green when it sporulates. Try again from the spore print, it helps to take very little spores and put it to some softer agar. I haven't seen any contaminants from my wild cyanescens print.

Deep-effect said: What a great patches ,keep up the good work homies I lately got a wild spore print of P.cyan and dropped some spores on agar plate ,right after a couple days it shows a very tiny mycelium growth ,the third day i checked it and i could see trich holding in the middle of the mycelia ,i went ahead in that day and made a small transfer from the white edge which supposed to be mycelium and few days later i could see trich is taking off again. so my question is how do you deal with germinating wild cyan spores ? thank you
did it turn green? cyan myc is strange- it can look a little like trich before it thickens up

Just grab leading edges as much as you can, anything can be cleaned up, it took me forever on a wild azure print but I did it without antibiotics or agar sandwich you just keep doing it and grabbing edges and moving it..

Like I said, you want to promote fast germination and minimise the amount of spores. This means you should have soft, nutritious agar and take very very little amount of spores. I would then swipe that over the entire plate, not just dab it in the middle. There will form a lot of colonies. As soon as you see ONE with clean growth, you can grab it and transfer. You should then have no trouble isolating that colony. This is how I did it and I have 100% success!
