Thanks. So no pasteurisation required? Should I spawn a cake to some chips indoors first before getting them outdoors to make some more spawn? I think I'll do that to test the waters. Winters are quite mild here, doesn't freeze too much. Anyway, think I'll keep a log of this grow.

Yes no pasteurization of the wood is required. I noticed much more dense fruits where I mixed colonized grains VS colonized woodchips in the planting beds.

Awesome thank you so much. So it seems colonised grains is the way to go!

im putting stem butts to soaked cardboard.
After it colonizes should i put the Myc covered cardboard into a mason jars with WBS then let that colonize?
Then i go throw the WBS into my woodchips i want knocked up?

No it will go bad as the cardboard and stembutts are already covered in bacteria and mold spores. I would take a portion of the mycelium and clean it up on agar while spawning the rest of the colonized directly to wet woodchips. What you clean up on agar you can transfer to grain and expand from there.

i feel like myceliciated cardboard to sawdust is a route you could go, then sawdust to chips
i'm no expert but i saved some azurescens myc on cardboard and i put some of that cardboard straight to alder sawdust and it looks like it starting to jump from the cardboard onto the sawdust
i didn't really even properly pasteurize or sterilize the sawdust or cardboard either, not saying it wont harbor some bacteria or contams but if you're planning on putting it outdoors anyway it's not a huge deal
i'm not saying to not sterilize or pasteurize - just sharing my experience (which could turn into a total trainwreck so who knows)
but for now it looks good

I think you can go two ways...the sterile way or the "natural way". Sterile way is much faster and results in a garden like liloldme. The natural way needs to keep sugars and proteins to a minimum or else bacteria and mold will take over. If you went cardboard to sawdust to woodchips it would work, but be much slower. As soon as you add bran or any sort of nutrition to your sawdust/woodchips, say hello to contaminants.
Might as well start on agar.

i hear sawdust particles are too fine, compact, and constrict airflow, stunting myc growth.
Maybe it could be used on a log you cover in pine sap, then stick tons of sawdust to it. I imagine the myc may be able to grow onto and eventually into the log.

Sawdust is what most commercial growers use. It's standard for any wood loving species, just prepare it with the right moisture content and some small wood chips mixed in.

you just need a container that allows it to breathe enough
awhile ago i tried to put the azure cardboard onto sawdust but i used a container with no holes and just cracked the lid, that wasn't enough it needed holes on the bottom and i even put a few on the side and kept it on something that raised the container up so air could go under aswell

If I remember right he said that the areas he sprayed with LC never made mycelium or fruited. The areas with the strongest mycelium were the ones that were spawned with rye, and the areas that were spawned with colonised woodchips had mediocre mycelium and fruits.
