Got things going on agar, made several transfers to isolate healthy growth

Made several gallons of LC from potato water and Karo 4%, most of which will be cut with spring water and sprayed out of a super soaker directly onto fallen woody debris.

What LC I don't spray directly onto wet wood, I am using on a 90/10 mixture of sterilized WBS/maple and oak woodchips. here is a picture of some of the colonized jars. I have 6 gallons colonizing in the closet

Bought five yards of woodchips from a local nursery, 50/50 blend of sugar maple and oak. Started spreading them around the yard. I completely underestimated the amount of labor it is to move a dump truck load of woodchips, but will be ordering another 5 yards later this week.

I bought a chipper last week for fun, I'm thinking the cyan mycelium will love this mulch made of dried blackberry bush stocks and alder branches. On another note, this chipper preps manure like no other!

I will be mixing the colonized grain/woodchips with the bulk woodchips throughout the month of March and April, will post more pictures as it colonizes, then fruits this fall. Would love some feedback as this is a first time outdoor grow from grain

Got another 9 yards over the weekend, this time it's Douglas fir. Will be spreading the remainder of my Cyan mycelium with this load, I'm starting to get tired of all this work lol

18 gallon tote, maybe 10-11 gallons of colonized woodchips

Made this for fun

Like everyone else, I'll be monitoring this thread.
It's at your moms house, but I help out with the yard work. She really has no idea what I'm doing other than making things pretty

Birds and squirrels will get myc on their feet or carry them around and drop them all over the place. If anything its a service.. and also a trade off. They'll eat your slugs and bugs but will also eat grains. It is what it is.

Well it’s nearly that time of year again and I got thinking, I wonder how Lil’s getting on and his patch, and then I realised I never did post my pics of my small patch (uk) as I was basically inspired by this post. Here are some of my highlights. (This was two years ago so cant be arsed doing full write up just now)

I was away obviously didn’t get there in time before they shot their load, but I think that’s ok coz looks like they’re coming back this year and they were unbelievably potent
Hope you’re well dude and patch ok and you still have a green bowl, I had to get one

Yesterday I was able to get a bit more work done, worked on another "planting" bed. I was able to do it in layers, maybe 3-4.5 inches thick.
Thick branches, mainly alder and maple
Did a nice layer of finer chips, blackberry bush stocks and alder
now adding mixed chips, some thick some smaller, sugar maple and oak
Now adding millet seeds and pecan chips for extra nutrition

got another 5 yards of woodchips delivered
 spread 2.5 gallons of Mycelium.
Cut 1/2 gallon of LC with 2 gallons of water and sprayed all over piles of wood debris and woodchips. I don't really know what to expect with the LC but I think it's worth a shot

Well, I feel like this is going to be a very good yield for my efforts come fall, but I could be wrong. Last cyan patch I made was minimal effort and I still ended up very happy.
Keep in mind, all of these planting beds were leveled out covering the colonized wbs/chips about 2-3 inches deep to protect it from drying out

Anyone else see the smiley face on the wbs grain below the woodchip?

I feel like I'm laying the colonized stuff down pretty thick

hope they love their new home

I'm up to about 5 gallons of 90/10 colonized WBS/woodchips mixed with 10 yards of woodchips with the addition of several gallons of LC, I should be ok for this fall. I'm learning a lot about rodents. I'm starting to think I should purposely get hundreds of birds and mice/squirrels to spread the love!

yep, they take to that scotts red mulch. After i have my quarts of oats colonized i soak a bucket of the mulch for a couple days then drain for about 1/2 a day. Then i mix about 1 quart of spawn to about roughly 5-6 quarts of mulch. I put it in a plastic bag and just roll up the top and put on a shelf. a month or so later its ready for a new outside bed of red mulch.
I did this to this little bed last year and after it was done fuiting i put about a inch of red mulch over it and we will see what happens this next season.

hey nothingschanged, thats pretty cool you recall my bay area thread. I'm trying to keep this small patch going and starting another one but a little larger.

Yeah I thought they wouldn't take to the red chips either. I thought they had anti-fungals. Found cyans growing from red mulch 5feet from the gas pumps at a chevron 2 years ago. Wish I would've taken a picture.

I just found this online "Douglas fir can be used after a three to four month-outdoor fermentation process during which the phenol compounds are dissipated." Maybe I should spread the mycelium to the Douglas fur after this fall just to play it safe. I didn't think about letting it ferment first, makes sense, I have plenty of other kinds of woodchips till then

11 gallons give or take laid down today with alder, maple, oak, and dried blackberry stem chips
 before covering them with chips

 During
 After

Took a few random core samples today, holy cow, I couldn't find one area that didn't have mycelium, I'm gonna have mushrooms growing outta my ass soon if I don't stop this

Remember that compost pile? Looking good!!
