The bigger moral issue is that our ideas of privacy are eroding.
Set them to activities like: sports, music and arts.
Talk to them, teach them, play with them.
Lead them through life like a parent, rather than leaving them to the vicarious delusions of a mad society.

Underage teenage girls sending naked phone picture to their boyfriends.
There were 4 cases in Quebec 6 years ago and now there are 122. That's 30 times more and the court/police don't know how to react to this.
15 to 17 year old girls (sometimes younger) willingly sending nude pics to their 18year old boyfriends and sometimes to someone else by mistake is considred production and distribution of juvenile pornograaphy up here. I'm pretty sure it's the case in most countries also. I believe if a 15 year old send sanother 15 year old a naked pic, it's considered the same crime.
How do you deal with this? It's no secret that kids have been doing this more and more given how easy it is to do and send. You can do it in under a minute.
What would you do?
I would teach my children not to do that and explain them that pictures often take on a life of their own on the internet.
Legally, no underage person should be charged with anything for sending a self pic in any guise or form. They are underage thus unable to make adult decisions. Impaired judgement. Its not child porn when a minor sends a minor a nude pic, that is criminal justice gone wrong.
When I was a kid I had a classmate who would frequently sit on the photocopier pants down and spread copies of his butt. Thats not child porn its a prank, kids are like that.

Yea, that sucks. But that sort of behavior is seen everywhere, not just with kids. People on their phones all the time. My family tries, hard, at holiday dinners to keep our phones in our pockets... but always by the end of the night we've scattered and they come out.Quote:

Sure. That's all awesome. But at some point you have to let them do what they want. You're kidding yourself if you think sports and arts is going to stop your kid from taking nude selfies, or whatever undesirable tech behavior it is.

Nude selfies aren't really an issue to me, I've sent out a few of those in bygone times. Not that its something I'd promote...
Just objected to having a kid and leaving them to the whims of this crazy society, sitting in front of a TV being fed poison. I'm not an extremely controlling person, privacy and self-determination are both big deals, but kids need a lot of direction.
Personally if I have any legitimate kids (have a bastard, allegedly), they'll basically be apprenticed to me or I won't have anything to do with them.

Uh, well... you could... by not buying them one... or setting up a wireless plan for them. Their bodies create hormones. Parents buy them smart phones.
i'm pretty sure kids would still be able to access the technology even if their parents didn't provide it for them. if you know anything about kids you should know that.
as mentioned, my girl has three daughters. she's not restricting access to the technology as much as she's introducing them to it and teaching them about what appropriate usage is while monitoring their usage. the youngest one who has a phone (12 years) has one that's pretty skimpy as far as its smart features go. it's mostly just a phone. the teen has a smart phone. both are monitored closely. both have been taught about what appropriate usage is.
but the larger issue here is the laws that predate the technology.

I don't care if humans are taking pictures of their bodies and showing others at any age. It's none of my business.

This thread is great because there are plenty of differences in opinion. Some say do nothing, some say blame the parents, etc.
Personally I think it's a bad idea to have naked pics at such a young age because it'll follow you all your life. One naked picture of you could mean that you'll never be able to work as a teacher or as a daycare employee. You'll probably never be able to get elected in any position.
It has a much bigger impact than the crime.

Kinda shitty that pictures of people without clothes on means they have limitations in their lives. That's a mind-blowing concept.
