I bought a Dunlop GCB-95 wah pedal. The problem I'm having with it is that sometimes it works perfectly and sometimes when I turn it on I get no sound from it at all. More than not it works as it should but I need it to work at all times.
Some other information: Sometimes when I first step on the pedal, in the down position, it will begin to initiate the wah effect but when I lift my foot up to the up position or bass position to get the desired "wah-wah-wah" effect it either makes no sound at that point or studders in between no sound at all and the wah-wah effect.
The issue doesn't seem major. If I can fix it myself or take it in to get it fixed for $10-20 I'd be willing to do so because I bought it cheap. The cost of a new one would be more expensive than the initial cost plus the repair. Does anyone have a clue as to what the technical issue could be?

Bad contact. Resolder all contacts; probably solves the issue. Worst case is that the footswitch itself is fucked.

Thank you so much for the advice. I'm going to open up the pedal tomorrow and take a look. I was pretty damn efficient at soldering in a technology class so if it's just a matter of resoldering some wires back to their original place then piece of cake. Right?
If that's not the issue then I'll read up on replacing the footswitch. I'd really like to know how to do this sort of stuff myself.

Yeah, this is in all likelihood a pretty straightforward fix and you probably won't even need a schematic for it

Thank you for the suggestion. I'm not really a fan of multi effects unit though. I just like the meat and potatoes sort of stomp boxes. That other stuff gets a little too complex for me. I had a boss me-20 a long time ago and it wasn't too bad, the sounds weren't bad, just was a little too much for me to sit there and try to save patches and what not. If I got my wah pedal, some kind of dirt pedal, and maybe a chorus or delay thrown in here or there I'm a happy camper.
And awesome, I'm glad to hear this. Thank you. Take care guys.

Sounds like the switch is going out. I would replace the switch. Of course re soldering the contacts would be an easy thing to try first, but my money is on the switch.
