Y'all don't even know.. Wisconsin is the best. If you're a fan of anything outdoors, it has a lot to offer.

I was just playing schlong-inator. I'm sure Wisconsin is nice and has a lot to offer. I've been up to the upper peninsula in Michigan, and isn't some (or a lot of) Wisconsin like that? Because Michigan's upper peninsula is gorgeous. Shit ton of Wisconsin folks live up in the upper peninsula too BTW since it's so close to Wisc.

thanks for all the answers everyone ! Youve all given me a mix of answers but largely positive. I like the sound of this place.
Ive heard about the beer and i'm looking forward to try it. I'm french so I'm usually very dismissive of all American cheese.. but i'm open minded!
I like the outdoors so i'm sure it'll be nice.

I have never been to Wisconsin, but I hear that it has beautiful summers and very nice people. I generally think of cheese and alcohol consumption when I think of Wisconsin. I think I remember you saying that you're from the UK or France, so one thing you should be prepared for if you've never been to the US is just the enormity of the place. Unless you're living in a large city then you're gonna want a car. Even if there is some public transportation, don't expect it to be anywhere near the level of Western Europe - only the largest and most populated cities/areas of the country are viable for comfortably navigating without a car.
If you do take it, then perhaps you could put in some time in Wisconsin and then looking into a transferring elsewhere if you want something different and that's at all an opportunity. The US is so huge and diverse that most anyone could find a place that they love, but I know I would probably shrivel up and die if I had to live in some areas of the country.

thanks for your answers, I think I'll go for it if I get the job. Even if its too hard for me, a year or two isnt the end of the world.
That's the attitude! I could do a year pretty much anywhere. If it sucks you can look back on it and laugh. State looks like great place for outdoor rec and drinking. Hunting and fishing paradise. Don't stay in all winter, snowshoe and cross country ski and ice fish.

Thanks for your answer . Yup I'm French and English but also naturalised American. I only know Florida, Georgia, Virginia and DC so my perspective is still pretty limited. I know at least that public transport is appalling in the US but I can imagine its even worse in such a sparsely populated State. I'll get a car.
Cheese, beer, nice weather and nice people are a great attraction. Have you had the cheese and beer from there?
I think I will be in Madison if I do go for it. Its not for a while anyway so I've got lots of thinking time.
cheers

Yeh its all an experience! I love the snow after a season in the Alps, but I'm only any good at snowboarding but I'd love to try snowshoeing. Even though I gave up skiing pretty fast, with a bit of practice I could probably do that.
Also i understand that psilocybe cyanescens grow naturally there so I would love to do some outdoor mushroom patches.
Since there are so many breweries, I wonder whether I could grow some oyster mushrooms from their spent grains. They have so much and they would let it go for free but I don't know how good it is to use.

Compared to here it is. I've been wearing shorts all "winter". I put on a hoodie when it drops below 70.

I juuuuuuuuust got back from Vegas (like within the last 2 hours) and man O man was that awesome weather. They were apparently setting high temp records 80 in February/March.. Fuck, dude. That's so dope. I was laying out in the sun as much as I could knowing I'd come back to snow and 20s/30s

Don't get me wrong.. when I lived on the East coast.. I was acclimated to cold and would wear short sleeves and shorts into like the 20s and shit Not anymore. When you are used to 75-85 year round.. anything below that is just fucking cold. The coldest it dropped here during the winter.. at night.. was like the 50s.. and that feels cold. But then it's like 80 during the day..
