Dunking cakes before casing????

Would it be a good idea or a bad one to dunk PF style cakes before casing?

That is what I will do tomorrow when I get off. Dunk the cakes I have in the incubator. I have 3 pints and 21, 1/2 pints of EQ's done with verm/wbsf. How many casings should I do? I was thinking 2 or 3 pints worth for each case.


Any suggestions?

Cant the cake soak up some water of its own. Wouldnt adding the casing layer just give more h2o?

I cant see how dunking could hurt. If extra water is the key to big shrooms...Wouldnt dunking, along with casing be a good thing?

Not to argue, but if u dunk before u case, u will get more water in it. Some ppl dont use base some do, but the base and top casing layer is only going to hold so much water, and IME, if u hydrate your cake, and use bottom layer, and case, it is much better. Reason being as most of u notice, as they grow they dry out, so if u dunk it will have all of that water, and then it will still have a reserve in the bottom layer to keep growning them babies out. But to each his own.

Agree with andyrm66 , my friend has same result .
When he crumbles his cakes , its always really dried , so he dunk it ( before crumble ) and result are better than with cakes not dunked .

as we all know, mushrooms are around 90% water, therfore any extra water that CAN be held SHOULD be held for maximum results, now how you go about that is your choice, but dunking is the shit and a REALLY easy way of accomplishing this goal
