Check out some of the critiques of this book on Amazon if you wonder what I mean by that.
I read all the reviews on Amazon before I ordered Smith's book, and I'm aware he isn't dead yet.
Ice, have you considered purchasing the book? I think you'll find it leading to much contemplation and the practical exercises challenging to apply.

I considered it when I saw the first quote here. Then read the reviews and heard some other quotes and decided against it.
I'm sure there are a few things in it that I would find of great value.

"...Now, that might raise the question of what kind of freedom there is for the person. As long as we are in the system, there is very little freedom. You can say 'I do what I want', but what you want is the result of the system. We are wanting things which are incoherent and creating misery. And we're not free to give that up." --David Bohm, Thought as a System

“The question we have to begin to ask ourselves is not how do we employ all the people who are rendered obsolete by technology, but how can we organize a society around something other than employment? Might the spirit of enterprise we currently associate with “career” be shifted to something entirely more collaborative, purposeful, and even meaningful?” --Douglas Rushkoff

The Great Way is not difficult for those who have no preferences
When love and hate are both absent everything becomes clear and undisguised
Make the smallest distinction however and heaven and earth are set infinitely apart
If you wish to see the truth then hold no opinions for or against anything
To set-up what you like against what you dislike is the disease of the mind.
Sosan Zenji (The 3rd Zen Patriarch)
