Emotional Triggers
    #2294554 - 02/02/04 05:40 PM (13 years, 5 months ago)

It always suprises me how even the most quiet and reserved people can be set off if you hit the right trigger.

I was sitting in a Temporary Labor service this morning, and as I waited with other workers to be sent out on a job, everyone was shooting the shit (Bam!).  The person that runs the service seems like a smart successful person and rarely associates with us lowlife that frequent the temporary service.  Somehow the topic of jail came up, which lead to the topic of divorce.  Instantly, the manager goes off on a diatribe on his two evil ex wives.  As it turned out, most everyone in their was divorced.  They all got excited and just wouldn't shut up!

"I know, that fucking Judge don't give a shit.  You get behind, you go to jail."

"Testify!  I told that judge just throw me in jail, cause jail was sounding pretty good..."

It is interesting to me that some conversations are just insidious land minds.  I was thinking that there are a number of topics that are timebombs like that.  I was joking with my friend that tomorrow, we should just throw some of these topics out there.

"Ya know, I don't like black people."

"When's the last time anybody got GOOD meth?"

"Ya know, I don't like paying taxes."

"Ya know, I don't like labor unions."

Your mother is a whore

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.

Was Aristotle the one that started  Yo' Mamma  jokes?

(Yo' mamma's so dumb, she thinks ethos pertains to logical arguement )

This is very true. It is also true that passion is a threat to reason. This is why the more heated the argument, the less it makes sense, in most cases.

Yeah, it is amazing how quick emotions can override rationality.
