My advice is not to rely on prayer or positive energy to get you good grades....

That is a ridiculous way to think about your situation.  You need to work harder to get good grades.  Prayer and positive energy are meaningless.

Here is how you get good grades;
Avoid drugs, alcohol and even caffeine.  Go to sleep early, 9 to 10 pm.  Wake up around 6, exercise and eat right.  Then read your texts and notes, do some problems in between your classes.  Go to your teachers office hours every day.  Even if you don't have a question go to pick their brain about concepts and listen in on other student's questions.  Do your math homework in the tutor center.  Ask questions regularly if you are stuck and help your classmates if you understand.  Expect to read and study in the evening, but obviously don't overwork yourself.

Thats it.  That is how you get good grades.

I waited until the first semester of my senior year, and then beared down because I had to have a B average to apply to grad school. MY 2 friends rejected me living with them that year, because I had more of a reputation for weed and they did for accohol. So I moved into a group house and they had 45 people at their house every night. (I did learn how to rapell off their 3rd story balconies) I made the deans list, and got a GRE score that gave me a free ride through a PHD program, assistanstships and felllowships. I remember when they called me I was saying yes before they were halfway through with their offer. It's embarrassing but it's a good way to  be embararassed . When you think they are done talking and then they say we would also like to offer you...

Avoiding drugs in general is a great plan. It can help short term, but long term it just wears on you. I'm hilariously reliant on my caffeine now. Just waiting to get through the semester to cut it out.

I always went over my notes by having them out during homework, and would try to refer to them before the textbook so I would know if I missed something my professor felt like I needed to know. Office hours, yes. But only with questions, that's why you need to pick your OWN mind. I walk a few hours to/from home a day, so it gives me a lot of time to just think about class and think of what I have questions about.

You can still chill with people, maybe engage in some recreational drug use, but generally make sure you are getting school done. Like now that I'm so far along in my courses, I would be shocked if one of my classmates hadn't finished an assignment (or did one poorly). You just have to do school first. Every choice. SCHOOL.

JUST DO IT.

It's definitely doable. I went from a 1.6GPA in highschool senior year to now a 3.88GPA on my senior year of college (Major Psychology, Minor Chemistry).

i was able to raise my GPA from a 3.0 to a 3.65 over my college career, with two majors (psychology and neuroscience) and one minor in religious studies.

I had really bad work ethic my first two years of college, which sucked cause thats when you get to take the easy classes. My junior and senior years, when I started caring about my grades and career after college, I had to bring my GPA up while taking all upper division science classes like neuropharmacology and organic chemistry. It was extremely fucking hard.

my advice to you: change your work ethic. go to help rooms, get a tutor, start studying for exams a week ahead of time (at least), and do NOT procrastinate EVER. Cramming is always a horrible idea. Do not be afraid to go into your teacher's office hours for help. If you still have lower division courses to take, make sure you do everything you can to get an A in those classes cause when you get to the harder stuff it will be much more difficult to get good grades, and As in some easy classes will help cushion your GPA for when the tough shit arrives. Most importantly, do what you can to properly manage any stress. Eat, sleep, and find some time each day to relax.

A good prayer will put things in your path unexpectedly. Has help me lots.

Go on you tube and look up memorization techniques. Will help with your tests significantly.

Use SQ3R for book work, scientific literature, web articles, class notes, and the like. When you are using SQ3R, make sure you are translating your book into formatted notes. I use Roman Numerals, letters, and numbers. The video below gives you the basic idea.

You should be reading every single assignment, having the chapter notes organized and understood before class. You must be prepared in order to have active discussion in your class. SQ3R helps you prepare for this by using recitation.

In my undergrad (psych) we learned that repetition is essential to learning. Study your notes at least 6 times before class. Sleep is essential to memory. Literature also shows that taking notes by hand improves learning, as opposed to taking notes by computer -- although sometimes speed is necessary.

One last thing. Go to every class.
