    #2292229 - 02/01/04 05:44 PM (20 years, 1 month ago)

possibly macrogonus?
this one is about 750 mm long...
Edit:  after looking at some other actives this one now looks more like Trichocereus bridgesii..

top view....

could this be pachanoi??
its looks different from the others i have...
this ones about 500 mm long...

any ideas anyone??
Edit: scopulicola possibly?
they wernt expensive so even if theyre not active they were a good score

hi friend!
yes, i was to say that this last one might be t. scopulicola (or scopulicolous? not sure).
the first one seems to be an hybrid. i was to say it was a peruvianus but when i saw those 5 ribs (well, it's still possible) it might be a peruvianus X scop or peru X glaucus with a scopulicola grandfather or vice versa...
but i'm not expert, don't take me very seriously. it's just a serious guess.

they look great, congrats!
the second one is sure scop, see the small areoles, closer, the 5 ribs... how is it to the touch? so far it has everything to be a scop... but also reminds a lot a juuls giant... except for the absence of spines!
good growing you lucky bastard!

cheers felix...

i just got confermation from a rather experienced guy on another site and.....( drum roll please...)

prickly one = T. macrogonus

smooth one= T. scopulicola..

i posted a photo of the entire (well almost) outdoor collection and this chap also mentioned juuls giant in relation to my tallest pachanoi.... ive never even heard of this variety...

juuls giant is an hybrid between pachanoi X peruvianus, at least so its said.
how cool to know that other one is a macrogonus!
BBBs macrogonus look pretty different (well, cactus are big shapeshifters) but BBBs had rather that 'diamond like' structure/notches.
btw where did you post this fellows collections pic?

anyways, for me taxonomy is the area of the science dedicated to the labelling of the sexes of the angels.

The macrogonus in the pic i cut into 2 stalks and that trunky bit and in a few days ill pot em up....

if you want to see the collection ill post a few pics ... either here (if anyone else wants to see) or to you in a pm...

how cool of a patio you have!
a little salvia in the edges and some HBWR climbing that fence...

what about a closup of your old ones? let us see them better too! they all ONE collection, right?
thinking better now i think i might have some t. macrogonus.
do they (speciallly on young growth) have a little white hair on its small white areoles?

thanks for the pics! i loved your collection! =)

P.S.:
just a detail.
have you ever measured HOW HOT does it gets inside those black plastic vases in the summer?
try to unvase one in a hot day and watch that steam cloud fly and you'll realize what you're doing to your plants!

I just recently bought a macrogonus and a terschekki, I like how the macrogonus looks alot different than most other trichocereus, what with all the pricklyness and such. Here's some pics...

I only had enough space on the shroomery to upload one picture, so I have to link offsite to the picture of my terschekki and macrogonus.

    :wtf:    are you high felix???

there are more uses for cactus than getting off...

i grow jamacaru as part of an experiment to asess whether growing cactus for legally saleable (and tasty) fruit , is viable in my area....  if it turns out they do not fruit heavily enough or do not sell as well as i hope, then they will be marketed as edible fruit cactus and appropriatly labelled. Why would i bother to rip people off when its as easy to grow pach and not have to deal with angry people.......

i'm always high, look at the icon.
i cannot agree that cereus fruits are the tastier ones!
it was rather some kind of subtle joke, i didn't really think you would rip anyone off.
if you wanna grow something for selling, grow opuntia ficus indica, the islamic community (poor pursued guys in US) pays big bucks for their fruits. not that they're really tasty, it's just from their homelands...
to rip people off is the 'job' of many people in the world!
i kind of agree with drug traffic and drug wars, it actually employs unknown million peoples. they might be criminal but they're honest. a thief is even filthier... LOL...
whats you area? perhaps i could help you out with sought after fructiferous seeds...
