You can't "make" it. Trying to force a trip is never a good thing, just let it go where it wants to take you. Though, the best suggestion I'd have is to meditate during the trip, if you know meditation or have any previous experience with it. Meditation can truely change a trip for the better, or influence it to be more spiritual. Good luck on your first trip.

The transcedental meditaition method is the simplest and best.  You just sit in your most comfortable position (not on a chair or something you can rest your back on though) and close your eyes and focus on your breath.  Dont stress your focus on your breath, but you shouldnt think about anything else than your breath.  When you notice thoughts slipping into your mind just catch them as fast as you can and allow them to slip away and try to keep your mind clear from thoughts.  Basically meditation is a closed eyed focus on clearity, its really purifying and beautifull.
I cant see how you "try to get" a spiritual trip, as for me they come naturally except for when outer stress factors come in the way like annoying people, lots of people, cars and traffic, city scenary...  Sitting in  my garden and enjoying visuals is enough for a spiritual trip for me.  WHat are you tripping on?  Shrooms are more spiritual.  When you let the trip drift itself with open sails it will allways turn introspective in a spiritual way... but in a manner that you can deal with outrospective things and enjoy them at the same time.  GOD tripping is so amazing, I'm dying for a stamp of acid or a couple of grams of shrooms now :crazy2:!!! :mushroom2:

you already know what needs to be changed, and the shrooms will make sure you know that you already know

Accept whatever information it gives you right up front, then sift through it later - hehe dont' try to argue with your thoughts while you're tripping

hey be sure to come back here and let us know how things go!

Perhaps have some objects around you associate with the spiritual approach you want.
Bibles, sacred candles, incense, athames, altars, paintings, etc.
Note:
You may just sit around speculating how a statue reminds you of Mickey Mouse screwing Goofy.

good advice so far. either follow valour's suggestions, or just go to nature--a quiet place where you can just sit and absorb the birds chirping, the wind blowing thru the trees, and the hum of your consciousness.

you'll get there, if you want it to. Mushrooms will do anything you want them to, but just don't force anything, or they'll know it's insinscere.

Yeah, nature! How could I forget?

Bill Hicks rocks.  Anyone who has not heard any of his material should definitely check him out.  He was not only hilarious, but had many good philosophical points.  He was definitely on the level, he knew what was up.  :mushroom2:  Too bad he's not with us anymore.  :crying:

Anyways, just go out into nature if you are able to.  You will most likely have a great experience no matter where you are just as long as you are comfortable in your environment.  This can make all the difference.  Have fun!

a full 8th can be pretty startling for some people for the first time.... don't know if that's you or not so I'd "round down" hehe and suggest 2 grams.

Don't forget about the FUN in all of this

we'll be eagerly awaiting a trip report, young Jedi

yeah dude, start at 2. first, it'll give you something to look forward to-after you have a blast. then you could wait a few months and trip on a full 8th and it'll be the shim sham snaparoo. second, you don't want to overwhelm yourself, like strump said.
