Seeing if this will take care of the clear FAE issues I had with the last batch. Also fruiting conditions immediately, no tape.
do you pressure cook the big gulp cups?
No no no. Think of it as a mono tub. You inoculate grains, you prep your sub (I would suggest coir), then you mix them together, casing optional, and let it fully colonize. Pins will form whenever they god damn please
I like to call it micro bulk

Mycelium breathes oxygen and expels CO2. The Co2 build up and evaporation of the subs moisture is what cause RH in the terrarium. The holes with poly should be strategically placed so as to let in just enough oxygen for the mycelium to thrive, but not too much as to ruin the RH.

That was well put. Then my brain says why not replace all the air with fresh and humid air, constantly! giving max fresh air and then I start hooking up humidifiers lol and everything gets complicated again.
Maybe we can get Green Rabbit to use that calculator of a brain of his science the shit out of a humidifier/tub combo so I can have a minigreenhouse..........

Haha, Ok to put it simply, The RH in a monotub comes from the substrate... If you put in completely dry sub, There will be no or very low RH.
Constant humidity is actually a bad thing, Thats why we fan and mist to Fluctuate RH, Temp and PPM of Co2 in the air. Quite simply put.
I have a green house setup for edibles, But instead of doing the "Martha stuart" greenhouse i just have a misting system that comes on a few times a day before a 15min fanning Every 2 hours, All this happens with timers so i jut have to move trays up or down the shelves depending on what stage theyre at and species etc. Works really well so far.
Think about FAE, Temp and RH like this cause they are related thats why its called relative humidity not just humidity
Get a clean glass, Wipe it with paper towels till its fully dry, Microwave it for 30sec or so, Now put a piece of cling wrap over the glass and microvawe it again, You should see little or no condensation(which is humidity-Water evaporation- That hasnt escaped to the outside atmosphere.
Now put some water in the bottom of the glass and microwave it again, You should notice a large amount of condensation on the glass and cling wrap. This is also similar to how you tell if you need to regenerate silica gel The pollyfill in a monotub prevents too much of the moisture from the sub thats evaporating escaping outside the tub, Without restricting FAE, The more FAE And Temp The lower RH or surface moisture your sub and tub will have(in a way) as at higher temps moisture evaporates faster creating a higher RH but in a FC will mean more frequent misting as its evaporating so fast.
Extra air currents are also created due to high and low pressure zones, Remember making a micro weather system in a bottle with a balloon in science class? Its like this. If i remember correctly high pressure always flows to low pressure as it cools and becomes more dense. Pretty much..

We don't fan and mist monotubs....Constant humidity isn't a problem....actually its required.

I meant FC in general, Go do some reading... And yeah most people do run monotubs with a fan in the room intermittently
