Weight lifting, muscle tone and veins

I have been going to gym for almost 20 years.
I have good body weight and heaps of power and size... but the thing I pride is that I do not have any veins sticking out of my muscles!
I'm asking this, since 9 out of 10 body builders I see have veins all over their body.. what causes it?

Idk maybe genetics play a role. I have pretty big veins in my arms and i dont even lift anymore bro.....and so does my dad and he also does not lift anymore.
When i was in tip top shape i had veins everywhere...abs, chest, a fucking map on each arm.

Genetics and PED's both contribute, people that take PED's have really enlarged veins it's epic.

Here's a pretty good thread on another forum regarding bodyfat, muscle definition, and vascularity.

That's a cool post Clifton.
Yea, I remember my father who was well built said ripped or "shredded" body builders look nasty. And he was right. Looking at some of them is scary.
Dad was as strong as any of em but according to the post he was "hard".

I've never been ripped or shredded. At best, when I was in top form for bike racing, I was cut. Somewhere around 12 - 13%, 6'6", 215 pounds. Now, I'm definitely at Full House state. Still like to lift, still like to ride my bike (but not race); but I also really like tacos and pizza.

Low body fat most competition body builders have an unhealthy amount of body fat somewhere around the 3% range.

But they don't do that all the time. Heck, even "on season" they're not keeping that low a percentage consistently. Just for a couple days around a meet.

You do realize that it takes 6 weeks to 2 months to be cut for a competition and yes in the off peak about 7% so maybe I misstated my point that was just a short quick answer to OPs question.
